To me it sure seems that the MAC teams gave the Big Ten a scare, but I'm wondering is the MAC getting better, or is the Big Ten just having a down year.

I think it's a combination of both. I think this is the best the MAC as a whole has looked OOC since 2003.

and, i think the big 10 is pretty terrible. i mean, come on, michigan loses to a I-AA, then gets absolutely crushed by oregon at home. tosu has 3 points at the half against akron? minnesota should be 0-2...we gave that game away today, etc. , etc., etc.

it is both.. The MAC has looked pretty good. Michigan, I dont know what their problem is but they must have had a pretty bad couple of years recruiting defensive players because right now they have no one who can play D.

OSU is breaking in a lot of new guys on offense including 3 on the O-line and all at the skill positions. It will be ugly for OSU for a while but they will be clicking at the mid point of the season. at least they are winning their games which is much more than we can say about some of those other schools that wear blue and gold (or maize). My Appalachian State Helmet should be in by the end of the week to add to my collection:-)

UM wow, I dont know if they will ever get it together. Illinois was supposed to be improved but they are looking pretty bad. MSU looks ok so far though their first game was against a nobody. PSU..i dont know if they won today but it looks like OSU, PSU, Purdue, and UW and possibly MSU, are going to be the only bowl worthy teams this year. That will leave two bowl bids open for someone else.

Interesting stat of the day? Coming in to today's game BG was 4-4 against the Big 10 since 2001. The rest of the MAC was 2-61.. We seem to do well against the Big 10...the rest of the league...not so much

This could have been a great day for the MAC, but instead turned into a real stinker! Akron couldn't do much offensively against THE Ohio State University (so as not to confuse it with Ohio University), but 20-2 is respectable. Miami had Minnesota until their kicker muffed a bunny at the end of the 2nd OT. Northern Illinois was up the entire game, until surrendering 20 unanswered points in the fourth to Southern Illinois, in losing 34-31. Kent got manhandled by Kentucky 56-20. Western is hosting Indiana and is currently losing 34-14. And then of course BG... :? We didn't do a lot in the 2nd half and quite frankly looked like we were totally out of gas in our loss. Played respectably, but not good enough to win.

The only non conference winner is Ohio U. over Louisiana-Lafayette :?

Why can't the MAC ever put it together against the Big 11?

Yeah, not a good day for the MAC at all. The MAC goes 1-6 vs. non-conference teams, 0-4 vs. BCS teams and 0-1 vs. I-AA (FCS) teams. I really thought either BG, Kent State or Miami was going to get a BCS win. But I was pissed to see NIU go down to a I-AA team, it’s never good for the conference. OU gets the only non-conference win and is the MAC’s only undefeated team after two games.

Flip: I was wondering about that, but was too darn lazy to look it up. Thanks for being more industrious than I ... although that's pretty faint praise.

Couldn't do much? Their offense didn't do ANYTHING against OSU's Defense...Ohio State's offense was having a down game, obviously, but as the old adage says, Defense wins games and championships. Please don't go on a "There's no way OSU wins the title this year" because I am not saying they will...All I know is their defense is what is going to win games for them this year.

I was reading the Washington Post this Sunday, and they were referring to the Big Ten and the "Big MAC." Not sure that was supposed to be a compliment, but I took it as one! Go MAC Football!!! :)
