1-1 heading home... stop the complaining

I wondered what I might read when logging on this morning, and sure enough, it's a mixture of what I expected.
First, I'm excited to see that many fans are already looking past yesterday's loss and getting pumped for our first home game and what should be a revenge beat down of Temple.
However, there are others still finding ways to criticize the team for its play yesterday on the road at MSU.
We played two Big 10 teams on the road two straight weeks. Not an easy task for any MAC school, let alone a young one like ours.
But we won of them, and had our shots in the second.
What I saw yesterday was a young BG team playing their butts off and leaving everything on the field. Sure we had costly turnovers that basically cost us the game, but I'm willing to chalk this is up in the category of "learning experiences." I'm hoping after a day or two, the rest of here can do the same. We have kids on our team.. 18 and 19 year-olds in skill positions learning how to run a complicated offense. It's why we struggled last year, and it's why we took some bumps yesterday. But this team is damn good and I think we should all be excited about what's ahead of us instead of dwelling on what we should've/could've done against Sparty yesterday. We have a shot to win a MAC title this year the way the schedule works out and because I believe we have the talent to do it!
Now lets get the revenge we deserve against Temple!
Roll Along!

First of all, I have not seen much complaining at all.

Second, The complaining I see was well warranted.
The two major complaints have been.
1) No second half adjustments, again. This has been a Brandon tenure complaint and is the single most important thing to point to in the lack of success of his teams.
2) The O-line. The O-line deserves some negative recognition any time it gives up 7 sacks. Especially when those 7 sacks seemed to be momentum and game killers.

Other than that I don't see any irrational complaining here. Everyone seems to realize that Michigan State is a good team and losing by 11, although it is not exactly what we wanted, is better then not being able to play with them. These first two games give me the feeling that we should be in every game in the MAC this year and in the MAC title hunt. I can't ask for more from a young squad.

Two major positives I have noticed.
1) QB play. Sheehan has been great, the only negative was his play when rushed last game and it is very difficult for me to really say that was a negative without being able to see the entire field and see if anyone was actually open.
2) Special teams play. NO SNAFUS!!!!!!

I am nothing but proud of the way the Falcons fought their collective ass off in that game yesterday. I think what I was most impressed with was the attitude coming out of the locker room for the second half...yes, we gave up the winning points in the 2nd half, but it was in no way a repeat of what happened in Minnesota...I am damn happy to be 1-1 after the Big 10 portion of our schedule...who knows, maybe we can go 1-0 during the ACC portion of out schedule...we shall see on that one...All I know is that Tyler Sheehan is quoted as saying "We're going to win the MAC this year" and from the looks of this team that last 2 games, I have no trouble believing that statement.

No Snafus?????? I think I would consider MSU getting to at least the 40 on every kickoff as a snafu...they need to do something to get down the field faster on kickoffs.

I was hoping they would kick the ball out of bounds so we could keep them at the 35 after a penalty. But, maybe MSu would have elceted to move us back 5 yards and kick over?

After last year's abomination of a kicking game, I'll take them getting to their 40 if it means 6 point aren't going onto the board before the kicker can turn around.

Look, as a coach and having a young team, Coach Brandon has to be happy that he has really found out quite a bit out about this team already. They are very talented, the defense is well ahead of last year, the quarterback play has already been twice as good as last year, and the special teams are going to be ok this year. Sure, MSU got to at least the 40 every time we kicked off, and sure it was frustrating as a fan to watch. BUT, the fact that I don't believed they scored on those possessions makes me very happy. This young team responded to adversity going down in the first half by scoring two scores of their own. The offensive line did give up quite a bit yesterday, but there are going to be off days, I don't care who you are! If you take away a couple of interceptions to give the Spartans a short field to score with, and two very big pass plays, this game is totally different. I think this team is the most complete team that has been at BG since the first year of the Coach Brandon era began. I love watching this team. Coach Brandon has put the right people in place to coach these kids the way they should be coached, and to play the way they should play. I am calling a MAC title right now. Not because of the offense, but because I love the way our defense has played so far.

I am calling a MAC title right now. .[/quote]

that's a little risky considering some tough road games in conference.
I'd say it's safe to say we have a legit shot, but to "call it" right now might be a little premature

The only teams I can see challenging us if we play the way he have the past 2 weeks is Kent and OU. Toledo is terrible on D this year, Akron has no offense, and Miami is struggling to find out what kind of team they are.

Drew, After watching the replay of the Miami game vs. Minny this AM, they just MAY have found what kind of a team they are,..and with a "backup" QB leading the way.... (Wish the Browns had one)

I have to agree. The team is still young, and looks to have completely turned around from last year. We'll be in contention for the MAC this year, and most likely for the next few years to come.

It will be an exciting ride.

Go Falcons!

Things are definitely turned around, however you can't count the chickens before they hatch. We still have to deal with Ohio, Kent and Miami, as well as UT and even an offensively improved Buffalo team. The East is extremely balanced, and while I feel that these 2 games have given our team loads of experience and confidence, it all starts on the 22nd with Temple. We need to take care of them with no doubts to prove to the MAC that we will indeed be a team to reckon with.

If we can become a deverse offense (run+pass) this team will finish in the top of the MAC.

You will get absolutely no complaints out of me. Yes there are things that need work...but I am so damn proud and jacked for this team. Just keep believin' in this team cuz they are gonna deliver the MAC Trophy on Dec 1st. Premature? Perhaps. But BG looks as good as any team in the MAC so far...possibly the best of all. The confidence level is soaring right now and the determination is there. BG will not see the level of depth the rest of the way except at Boston College, a non conference game.

For all the doomsday talk before the season, I'd say the team has answered the critics to this point. Ya gotta give Coach B and staff credit for the first two games...we've gone toe to toe with the Big Ten and split. All I wanted was a split in the first two games. Wait til Partridge gets back and we heal up some bumps and bruises the next two weeks.

After what Buffalo did to Temple yesterday, I'd hate to be the Owls on 9/22. We owe those Phila boys.

GO FALCONS!!!
