2 games in and...

...this team is on a mission. I could tell at the fall kickoff event this team meant business. Saturday at Spartan Stadium was a blast...even though BG came up short. The kids played HARD...hitting MSU as hard as MSU was hitting them. It was great to see a sea of orange in Section 3. And there is no way in hell it was only 71 degrees yesterday. It felt like 90...and it affected the Freaklings as the game went on. It was tough for them to enjoy the game sweating like their old man. I had 3 layers of sunscreen on and still got burned a bit.
The tailgate was fun...MSU fans were total class. And the couple times we did hear the "BG sucks", I just said "Appalachian State" and they busted out laughing. Nothing like poking fun at Meeeeeeeeeeeeechigan to bridge the gap of friendship! LOL Great to see everyone that made the trip...Bleeding Orange, his dad and brother pulled into the Red Roof Inn 5 minutes after we got there Friday night. Made it home with one 16 oz Silver Bullet.
It was awesome seeing former Falcons Kurt Gerling, Eric Curl, Jason Stasser and Ricky Schneider at the game. MSU's student section was VERY impressive and it was a LOUD stadium. I'd love to see BG play there again or better yet, have MSU make the short trip down 75.
After seeing BG play these first two games, two things stand out more than anything else for me...
The attitude and swagger are back. We have guys on this team that will lay the wood every play. I love that...
And the confidence of the team. After the game, while the players were very upset with the loss, they still had this twinkle in their eyes like they couldn't wait to get a hold of Temple and the rest of the MAC> This team WILL contend not only for the East title but the MAC title. This team believes in one another and trusts one another.
I listened to Oregon bury UM on the way home and then UT/CMU. Caught a bit of the Kentucky/Kent State game as well.
A week off is just what we need right now...we're a bit beat up but a very strong bunch. It would be awesome to see Perry Stadium filled on the 22nd...doesn't matter what time kickoff is. We need to fill that stadium every game....no matter who the opponent is. This BG team is going places.
Give GB and staff credit...BG will be a difficult team to beat in MAC play and I think we'll give Boston College a hell of a run.
FALCON FOOTBALL IS BACK, BABY. CRUSH TEMPLE!
