Anyone see Miami/UC today?

I am wondering about anyones thoughts who watched the game on TV and has seen BG play this year.
Nicholas and I were at the game today......... not fun. I have to say UC might be the real deal this year and could/should be a ranked team. If Kokal starts the Syracuse game, I am immediately going onto the field and demand a refund of my season tickets from Coach Montgomery.
I can't figure out if Miami was outcoached or outplayed or both.

Hawktalk.com is burning tongiht and well it should.
High point - over 22,000 in the stands and the entire student section was in white - meaning the entire East stands. And yes - Nicholas and I were in white.
Good news - (and hopefully supported by forthcoming comments) - I think BG could be ready to give a little payback to the Redhawks for the 2003 thumpings.
Best part of the day..... spending some one-on-one time with Nicholas. We ate at Bruno's, hit the bookstore for some Miami golf supplies, and enjoyed the drive to and from Oxford.
BTW - PGY - Nicholas wants to know if your coming up for the game on Oct 13.

You bet I am Tech. I think my wife will actually be making the trip as well. Tell Nicholas I am going to need him to show up at my tailgate decked out in Orange and Brown. As it stands right now, my parents will be coming down (both Miami grads, though dad saw the light and got his masters from BG

), my cousin (a senior at Miami) and his parents (miami grads with my parents, you met my uncle and cousin at the hockey game 2 years ago) will all be there. So some additionaly BG folks will make gloating our demolition of Miami that much more fun.

Central Michigan sucks without Brian Kelly and Cinncy is a lot better with Brian Kelly. Plain and simple.

My Miami season tickets are in Section 3 Row 38. The other two guys I sit with weren't there yesterday. One had just driven back from Chicago that morning and had to coach his youngest son's soccer team and his two high schoolers both had games (Vball and soccer). My other friend's daughter, who's a Freshman, made the Miami cheerleading squad, so I think he was elsewhere in the stadium watching/supporting his daughter.
There will be plenty of seats in the stadium. Even with 22,000+ at Yager yesterday, there were plenty of seats. Mrs. Tech and hopefully Sam are coming - so we probably won't be seating in our assigned seats

although Nicholas is hoping for some pay back for our one friend. "High Five Mr. S" for everytime BG scores.
If you plan on tailgating at the Milleti parking lot- get there early. Nicholas and I got shut out and ended up parking in East Quad near Bishop Gardens..... so it was a nice walk to the game.
We'll talk more when gametime gets closer.

We're making the trip down to Oxford this year...staying at a park inn on a gift certificate right outside Oxford on Friday night. I haven't been to a game at Miami since 2000...Tailgating area info would be great!
I saw the UC/MU score and went UGH. Cincy dusted Oregon State 34-3 so they must have some things going well there.
GO BG!

Freak - Are you talking about Hueston Woods Inn? If so, good choice for you and the freaklings. Bring your fishing poles take the boys over toward the marina, they can just cast of the docks.
I haven't stayed at the Inn, but Mrs. Tech has been there for business meetings. My understanding the rooms have been renovated in the last 10 years. We stayed in the cabins a couple of years back - that was a blast.
Go out the main entrance and you drive into Oxford right behind the stadium. Come to the first traffic light as you come into town and turn left and it takes you right to the Stadium area. This is the way we come into town....... very little traffic. Coming into Oxford on 73 or 127 on Game day can be a little slow.
Get yourself to the Milleti Lot for tailgating. There is also a park just East of Yager. They park cars across the road in an open field. We talking about 200-300 yards from the South gate.
Sad as it might sound, unless Miami turns around their season and quickly, the turnout for BG could be 12 to 15K. Meaning more open parking at Milleti.
Sounds like we need to arrange a BG tailgate area.

Hueston Woods is one of my favorite parks in Ohio. Second only to Hocking Hills. We stayed there a lot during my childhood, but FF and I haven't been there in quite some time and never with the kids. Perhaps next summer......

Tech,
It is Hueston Woods! Thanks for the info! I would assume there are hiking trails there? My only concern is we probably won't be able to get there until evening. It's almost a 4 hour drive from Akron and the earliest we can leave is 3. But I will definitely use the directions to tailgate. I believe kickoff is 3 on Fox Sports Ohio so if we get there by 10 or so, are we cool with enough parking? Oct in Oxford is really something...very beautiful place. Let's set up a tailgate spot and go from there. And I hear you on the attendance. MU's avg attendance has been about 15K every year for the last 6...except 03 and the Big Ben year. They were well over 20K. BG and MU face very similar challenges with attendance. Two of the most successful programs in MAC history and struggles with attendance more often than not.
BGFan,
I love Hocking Hills as well. All the caves and the Rock House...good times.

If you get there by 10... parking will be free, and pretty well available anywhere you go.
Regardless of Miami's record, it is Homecoming that weekend, so I'd expect a pretty decent turnout regardless.... somewhere in the 16-18K range, which has been typical homecoming numbers in years it hasn't rained.
I would suggest you take a walking tour of the campus, as it has greatly changed since I graduated in 2002. Three new major buildings on Campus, and the Goggin Ice Centre, which is simply amazing.

Hmmm, might have to consider taking the camper down to Hueston Woods for the weekend.....

Joyce and I are probably coming down...combo visit with step daughter and her fiance (both BG grads in '07)....then to the MU game... haven't decided on where to get tix yet...will need four, assuming the BG grads come with us...as they're supposed to. With HC at Miami, will there be a problem getting tix day of game?

61- (My birth year BTW

) if you want to sit in Section 1 and 2 with the BG folks, I would purchase my tickets now. Otherwise, you should be fine buying some General Admission tix the day of the game - but you'll probably be sitting in the Student section- but you can typically go up high in Section 1 and 2 and find empty seats. We always have a few more kids with us than season tickets, so we always buy a few GA and the kids go off causing havoc.
That's how its been in the past..... not sure if that has changed this year.
FWIW - My tickets are about where the #3 is on the seating chart.
