I know this is not the right forum for this, but anyone know if the BG Women Soccer team won. The game should be over now. And we all know it wont be posted on the BG Web Site until next week. Just curious. Nothing about the game at any Sports site. Please post score ASAP

BG was tied 1-1 at the half and scored 3 in the second half to win easily 4-1. Onto the championship match! Sorry, no link, but check out bgsufalcons.com -- they have a story up about the game.

WE CALL THEM FALCONS.

One of my biggest pet peeves in sports is when people feel the need to put LADY in front of the nickname of a team. The Lady Hawks or Lady Royals or Lady Whatevers not only makes no sense but is generally annoying.

Just think, if SOuth Florida were to call their women's teams the Lady Bulls. That would mean they are being called Cows. The mascot is not intended to be what the athletes themselves are, but it is meant to be a MASCOT.

Sorry for the rant, not in a good mood this week.

I could have sworn up and down they used to call the women's programs, the Lady Falcons!! Did they at one time. I do not see it mentioned in any media articles anymore, but I still think the general public and even the PA announcer at the games even calls them the lady falcons.

The MEDIA still calls them the LADY FALCONS...

Lady Falcons outscored by Bobcats, 60-34

On Thursday, Oct. 28, the Lady Falcons traveled to Columbus to take on the Buckeyes of Ohio State.

The BG NEWS, a campus newspaper calls them the Lady Falcons. I knew I heard it somewhere

I know and I didn't mean that as a personal attack on you, but you did raise the question. It annoys me when people, especially the Media, perpetuate this, so I threw in my two sense.

I think Lady Bulls would be my favorite to prove that you just call the team the nickname that they are, rather than make a disclaimer in front of it.

Well, I'm a geek. A female falcon can be called a "falcon-gentle," which supposedly fits specifically for a female Peregrine falcon. A tiercel is the proper name for a male falcon. But I'm with DD here, both men and women's teams should be FALCONS!
