Consecutive 3rd and 1s.

Sounds like a great time to throw low percentage deep-outs. Especially when you have a powerful RB, a great run-blocking OL, and Temple gives up over 5 YPC. Great.

We have a great running game at our disposal, and Temple is terrible against the run. What am I missing? The passing stats are nice, but I'd rather have some balance. We should have 40 points by now with how soft they are on D.

Terrible play calling and both stops led to Temple TD's.

I was pulling my hair out over this as well.. with the lead why not just aim for first downs in a 3rd and 1 situation.. totally lame.

Better in the second half. Nice adjustments on both sides of the ball today, defense especially.

I wanted to pull my hair out watching that in the stands. Absolutely ridiculous calls.

We refuse to run and it's very annoying.

Both times we had a yard to go and both times we decided to throw it for 15 yards. Not sure what the strategy was there.

Hey Brian were you wearing an Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba shirt today? Section 14 row 31? I'm pretty certain it was you because when they announced one of the main donors of the field turf I think I heard you boo and say bring back the grass!

That was me...Row 30 ;)

As a bonus I found another new reason to prefer the grass. I was talking with some of the majorettes that do not twirl during the games, and apparently they no longer allow them to do the fire batons due to the turf. Too bad, those things were cool.

I saw the majorettes up there at the half. I was in row 32 section 15 on the end there. My dad was wearing a Cubs jersey and I was wearing a gray BG football shirt. I'll make sure I say hi next Saturday.

Oddly enough, I did notice the Cubs jersey. Definitely come say hi, and come out for some tailgating too if you want.

Next week is BBQ!

running game

Post by gspointer »

This team does not have a "serious" running game because we are well over 10 lbs lighter per man across the front this year and do not have a 270 lb. tight end blocking. This is not a strength. I think you guys are dreaming a bit - it would be nice but it is not reality. The coaches know this.

I think that's a good point about not having a blocking TE. But we have 3 guys 300+ on this line and the other 2 are 290 and 285. Derrick Markray skewed that figure a year ago at 350.

We also have two new guys in Steffy and Curtis that are still getting used to playing with 3 seniors.

I still think this team can run the ball.

We led the MAC in rushing last year. So since we're a little lighter across the front and only have 1 all-american on the line, we can't run the ball on 3rd and a foot?
