Interesting tidbit. Both mayors of Bowling Green have agreed to a little competitive wager where the losing city must fly the other team's flag at their city hall for the duration of the following week. Glad to see them having fun with this.

John Quinn is a good guy and a former teacher/coach. I like what I see in BG every time I visit. I'll bet he and his wife don't miss a game and also bring their share others to attend.

On football and men's basketball gamedays the front door of Mayor Quinn's house is adorned with an orange BG flag. Love seeing it go up, as my parents live a hail mary away from him around the corner.

I for one wouldn't mind to see us continuing to play WKU some more in the near future, and this cool little idea is one reason why.

The article for this is listed on the BGSU athletic site. They stated in the article that when you google "Bowling Green" we come up first and the Kentucky town second. The university does actually come up first, however, our fair town comes up a few threads after BG KY.

As of right now, the top hits for "Bowling Green" are:

1. Bowling Green State University: http://www.bgsu.edu/

2. Bowling Green State University Department of Philosophy (Huh?) http://www.bgsu.edu/departments/phil/

3. Bowling Green State University, Official Athletic Site: http://bgsufalcons.cstv.com/

4. The city of Bowling Green, Ky., official municipal site: http://www.bgky.org/

5. The city of Bowling Green, Ohio, official municipal site: http://www.bgohio.org/

6. A tourism site for Bowling Green, Ky.: http://www.visitbgky.com/

7. Some other site promoting Bowling Green, Ky.: http://bg.ky.net/

8. A Wikipedia entry on Bowling Green, Ky.: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowling_Green,_Kentucky

9. The town council for Bowling Green, Va. (Who knew there was such a place?): http://town.bowling-green.va.us/

10. The Bowling Green Daily News (not to be confused with The BG News; this is a Kentucky daily): http://www.bgdailynews.com/

All, and all, not bad.

I can't figure the Department of Philosophy hit out, though. Is Paul Olscamp out there somewhere, Google bombing?

I have been through BG Virginia, not much there. There is also a Bowling Green Indiana. Don't blink or you would actually miss it.

There's actually a "Bowling Green" near Philly, too. There's even a trolley stop there.

My best friend, who is getting her PhD in Philosophy, told me that BG has one of the best graduate philosophy programs in the country. Maybe that's part of it? But we certainly have other strong programs, so I'm not sure why this one specifically would pop up.

Do the mayors of Toledo & BG do something similar?

Would be kind of cool to add another dimension to the rivlary.

We did once. BG won the game and Carty welched on the bet.

Carty what a total MORON...he and his staff are having thier way and ruining the Westfield mall by not making proper changes to inhibit miors from haning out and not allowing the mall to kick them out..."kids need a place to go" well they should hang out at his office.
As for JQ one hell of a fine individual, from a brief talk we had last year as he stopped on his walk this is his last term...he has done a lot of good for BG. A great educator who could get you excited about the subject, and good mayor. Wish toledo had him.

When BG beats Toledo, Carty would blame the loss on Wood County "stealing" jobs from Lucas County.
