I think that the refs just like to hear themselves over the PA system....

I think it's ridiculous that the MAC is getting so many penalties, and if the other MAC teams have refs calling as many bad (or questionable) calls as we've had, then we (the MAC schools) should try to do something about it. But seeing as how I haven't been able to see what each call is as well as the play itself, I can't exactly make any sound judgments. Either way, in order for the MAC to become more respected in the nation, we need to try to play a little bit cleaner football.

Perhaps it speaks about the balance in the league that many teams are being forced to take penalties by being "outworked" in certain areas. I think as the season goes along, those numbers will get smaller (maybe not Toledo...3 personal fouls on one drive...yeesh!).

Personal fouls have been one of the ahllmarks of the Amstutz era. Sadly, I think we have a reputation that has led to close scrutiny of every sideline hit and the occasional undeserved PF for hits out of bounds. Which is not to say that many of the PFs weren't deserved.
