Well, your Falcons sit atop the MAC with the best overall record of 3-1. Just wondering what your thoughts are heading into Boston College this weekend. I know I've seen it somewhere before, but isn't this one of the best starts BG has had since 2003 or 2004? What if we beat Boston College this weekend and move onto 4-1? What about the 2-0 home record?

and.....go!

The record is certainly a great positive. If we had the depth against Sparty, we could have taken that game as well. I'm a bit concerned about our defense the past two games, seems like some focus has been lost.

The BC game this week for me is nothing more than a measuring stick for us. It's a good chance to see where we stand as a team against a Top 10'er. The most important thing about this game for me is no injuries and a respectable showing. Our main focus should be the MAC, and while winning this game would be huge for our program, it wouldn't define our season.

So...my "grades" through 4 games:

Offense: B+

Sheehan has answered the bell and we have our QB for the next 2+ years. The receiving corps is doing their job, and the OL is giving Tyler plenty of time. I just hope if we encounter a team who can shut down the passing game that we'll successfully be able to run it. That is the only major concern I have on offense.

Defense: B

A +8 turnover margin always looks great, but there still has been too many missed tackles and somewhat porous run defense. The secondary has been very opportunistic, and the likes of PJ Mahone and Kenny Lewis have really stepped up this year in a big way. If tackling doesn't improve, a team like Kent State may run all over us. Too many penalties as well.

Special Teams: A-

Wow...who would have thought after 4 games we wouldn't have any blocked punts/field goals and no returns for scores? The coaching staff has improved this area ten fold, and Vrvilo and Iovinelli were great finds. Winning teams have successful ST's, and it's no surprise why we are 3-1 with a clutch FG at Minnesota by Vrvilo and Iovinelli's solid punting.

Nice recap, JP.

Vrvilo is 6 for 8 on FG's...one miss was the 55 yd attempt as the first half ended at MSU.

Iovinelli has been very solid punting...great job.

Winning this week would be awesome!! I know this team can beat BC. We need to shore up the run defense and there are things that need work.

With that 4 game stretch agains the East teams coming up....those games are going to dictate where this season will go.

So far, so good...keep improving and believing...this team can make things happen.

GO FALCONS

Shoot, even if we don't pull off the upset, I'm more than happy with 3-2 (1-0) going into the nasty conference stretch.

I'm very encouraged by the improvements I've seen so far. Take out 4 garbage time TDs, and we've dominated the weaker teams on our schedule. That's a good sign. The staff is well on their way to regaining the confidence of a lot of folks.

A win against BC = Top 25 votes...absolutely...the win would be huge and as a fan of Cleveland sports I am overly optimistic that BG can beat Boston College...I am going to go ahead in set myself up for disappointment with hopes that I am wrong...if you can follow that...GO FALCONS!

A perfect "New England" weekend would be the Falcons taking out the Eagles on Saturday and the Browns taking down the Patriots on Sunday. :D

Getting out of BC with a respectable effort AND no injuries would be just fine with me.

Don't forget the Angels beating up the Red Sox so the Indians don't have to play them in the ALCS

+1 to the nth power

@ Vdubfalcon - I'm not sure the Angels aren't the tougher matchup for the Indians anyway. Either way, the path for the Tribe is tough.

I just finished up a project and the Analyst on my team is from Boston (Pats fan) and just graduates last December from BC. I told him that his final project review is in severe peril depending upon both outcomes this weekend...
