No ESPN U in Chi-town

Post by windycityfalcon »

Does anyone know if ESPN puts the U on one of their GamePlan channels?
Lame comcast in chicago doesn't have the U, but offers GamePlan, so I'm hoping they put the BG game on one of those channels so I can buy the package.

I'm not positive, but I believe that every game ESPN offers on any of their channels (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, the Ocho, etc.) Are all available on the gameplan package. Most of those stations have multiple games at once with regional coverage taking precedence, so they offer the gameplan package for those that want out of area games.

I've never ordered it though, so I could be wrong. I would also imagine that you'd be able to find a sports bar with a dish that would have it as well, that's my plan.

ESPN U games are not available on Gameplan. I've been down that road before, no dice.

Looks like it is NOT on the Gameplan list of games for this weekend:

http://proxy.espn.go.com/ncf/gameplan/index?week=6

If you look at last week as well the Temple-Army game which I watched on ESPN-U was also not on the Gameplan list so it appears that being on the family of networks does not guarantee a slot in the Gameplan lineup which seems a bit ridiculous.

Luckily I have escaped the grasp of Comcast and will be watching the U from my house on Knology!

Well that just baffles me, but you guys would know more than I on the subject.

Wow, that just makes no sense at all...if you have the rights to the feed why would you not offer it at the rates they charge!?

ummm....No ESPN games (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU/ESPNC) are on gameplan. Those games aren't regional, those are all broadcast nationally. the ABC regional games at 3:30 and 8 are on game plan. Very rarely, like once a year, ESPN will have two games at noon or so and they usually offer the other one not shown in your area for free on Gameplan, don't think they do that anymore since they keep adding ESPN channels though.

Also, Comcast blows.

BG/Boston College will be on ESPN U at noon Saturday. I've had the U since 2005 during the whole weather fiasco in Oxford. Ordered it that night cuz they switched from the BG/Miami game for an NBA game. I called Dish Network and within 30 minutes, had the game again. I missed most of the 2nd quarter but that's how it goes.

If anyone in the Akron area wants to come over, be my guest.

So, if we're NOT from the "Akron area" we can't be your guests, right Michael? :-D (P.S.- I'd like a tape of this game if at all possible)

LOL! NE Ohio, actually. My dad may be going to Florida sooner this year so I'll have to get him on making a copy...just don't know when he'll be able to.
