QB question for the future
QB question for the future
Here is something I've been wondering....
Next year, we will have three QB's that are jr's eligibility wise and one who is a redshirt frosh. Right now it would seem that Washington and Johnson are pretty equal, even though Washington is second. With Turner next year, that may very well put Johnson at 4th QB.
Would anyone else like to see VJ move back to WR next year? I just think that he's too talented to be on the bench. We won't be desperate for WR's next year, but I think he would have more of a chance to contribute over his last two years if he were moved back there.
I don't know. Your thoughts?

I think that's the right move. Even if Johnson were to step ahead of Washington on the depth chart, he's more valuable down the road at WR. Especially assuming that Turner will step into a tight competition for the #3 spot with Washington, if not the automatic #2 after his redshirt comes off. And while we may seem to have an abundance of receivers, that is also our strong point, having 4 or 5 guys to get the ball to at a time. Having Van at WR for two season instead of trying to get back in the flow for just one (with out any of the crop of receivers we have now around) would be key, I'd think.

Get rid of Washington and bump Van up. Let Van and Turner battle it out for the two spot next year. Washington has done absolutely nothing all season. Van, for the little bit he played looked so much better. He's got size and he's been in our system longer. Washington looks so puny.. This is a no brainer to me.

Jason Washington looked a little indecisive and even lost when he was out there. It could be due to the playcalling (postgame show said something about coach refusing to pass in the 2nd half until Stud objected), but I just felt more comfortable with Van in there.
I noticed Turner suited up on the sidelines. He's got good size. Just get this year over with so we can start using him as #2 instead of our rent-a-QB.
I fear Van will never get to live up to his billing as he was highly spoken of before coming to BG. I fear he'll be stuck as our 3rd string QB or fall in with the Brandon Jones-type receiving corps.

Isn't Van Johnson a senior this and will be gone?
Thats what I thought. I'm almost positive that Van is gone after this year.

I hate to say it but you are probably right with this. If they would move him back to wideout or DB he would probably excel more, but I don't see it happening.rollalongFF0304 wrote: I fear Van will never get to live up to his billing as he was highly spoken of before coming to BG. "Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Omar doesn't have to worry about losing the #1 position until he makes it the NFL. ...and we have seen with jacobs learning from harris might do him tons of good to be his understudy a few years.factman wrote:Believe me......there will NOT be a fight for #2 next year........maybe for #!, but not #2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
