Looking for positives
Here's one positive: We definitely had nattier-lookin threads.
Maybe that's about it.
But I will say that this team is better than that final score. They moved the ball. They just couldn't hang on to it.
I'm reminded, a bit, of our first game at Ohio Stadium. Bowling Green's offense gained more yards than the Buckeyes. But the Falcons turned it over four times.
That Falcon team turned out to be pretty good.
I think this team can win the MAC. But they are going to have to earn it every single week. From here on out, there are no gimmies. We know our history at Oxford. Kent State and Buffalo actually look decent. It's gonna be a grind, week by week.
Today was frustrating. Without the turnovers and the penalities, this would have been a game. But I do still think we have a pretty good football team.

Here are some positives:
1). We moved the ball fairly easily against a top ten team.
2). Our offensive game plan looked sound. Unfortunately, I don't think throwing 4 picks was a part of the plan!
3). Vrillo looked good kicking today.
4). No serious injuries (that I saw).
5). Troy Glaud, Dan Macon, Chris Bullock and Keston Cheathem looked good in mop up duty.
6). Cory Partridge looked good against BC's 1st team defense.

He had the safety backing up to cover the pass and he still threw it. That was a horrible decision.BGSUfalcons wrote:He had a good chance to run for a TD on the play in which he threw his last INT.

It was an OOC game. That's my positive. We played absolutely terrible, and a top-ten team was firing on all cylinders, and we "only" lost by 30. That's really not all that bad.
Ball State, considered by many to be the class of our league, lost by almost that many to a medicore CMU team. Ohio is down 14 in the fourth to Fuffalo. NIU is losing to Temple. Compared to our peers, we didn't have that bad of a day.

Roll Along!
We are going have to run more. It's too much work to ask your qb to go out and throw on every down. We ran one true designed run play in the first 25 minutes of the game. It gained like 6-7 yards. The other runs were that reverse, Turner, and scrambles.
You have to at least try to run. I think we could have got some yards on the ground on them but we go out like the only possible way to move the ball is to pass. That works for a series or two but than adjustments are made.

1. It's not a conference game
2. Vrvilo
3. Barnes
4. Glaud
5. Macon
6. Kickoff Return team, (w/o the penalities)
7. We had more yards than them
This isn't the end of the world, BC isn't in the MAC. I hope they keep on winning, and play well against other big name teams as they did against us today!

Not to be "Picky" (because BC sure was), but we threw SIX INTS...including TWO in the endzone....
Also: Troy Glaud is a baseball player...ANTHONY Glaud is a BG QB.... Sorry to sound critical, but guess I'm not in the best of moods right now....2 Int. returned for TD's, two more in the endzone....that's a 28 pt. swing, by my account. Oh, well. Hopefully, we'll see an improvement at MU next week.
And hopefully, we'll realize that BC was dropping a D-lineman back into short middle of the field coverage more quickly next week.
Hmmm... just realized that my 1000th post is a negative! Not good!!

For your sake, I hope the coaches realize that BC was dropping a D lineman into short coverage well before your game next week. Then they can be prepared if Miami does it.Class of 61 wrote: And hopefully, we'll realize that BC was dropping a D-lineman back into short middle of the field coverage more quickly next week.
I hope that you are right, BO. We will be able to pound the ball against the MAC teams if we choose to do so. We don't need to be the 2006 Falcons, but we have to be able to help Tyler out if he struggles like he did today. It was tough to watch Tyler late in the first half because we had no other option. Either Tyler was going to get it back or he was going to continue to struggle. We must make Chris Bullock a weapon in this offense if we want to win the next 4 games.Bleeding Orange wrote:We will.kdog27 wrote:We are going have to run more. Best positive?
The Jerry York interview complete with Cavallini's championship winner in 4 OT.
If anyone taped the game and can YouTube the interview, that'd be cool. The bar I was at had the sound off thanks to the IU-Minny game.

Okay, I stand corrected on two points,
We DID throw 6 picks.
It is indeed Anthony Glaud, not Troy Glaud. (I'm a Cleveland Indians fan, right now, baseball is always on my mind....)
However, we still lost, we still need to stop acting like it is ever acceptable to lose any games, even if it's a non-conference game. Winning those is how you build national respect. Getting your ay-ziggy-zoomba handed to you on national tv is not! I don't accept that it is an okay loss because it's out of conference. I ALWAYS want and expect to win all our non-conference games!
