One month, four games, THIS IS OUR SEASON!!!

Over the next month, we have four MAC East games which will ultimately decide our entire season. We have back-to-back road games at Miami and Kent State before hosting Ohio and Akron. Our hopes of a MAC Champions and bowl bid will likely rest in the outcome of each one of these four games. With our crossover games against EMU & Toledo essentially serving as non-conference games (unless of a tie-break), this next month will likely make or break us. We do have a MAC East game with Buffalo late in the season which could also come into play, but our game at Miami next week is HUGE for many reasons. But also keep in mind, Miami plays one less MAC game than the rest of the East so it is vital we get a win next week. Here’s the way the crazy (and somewhat confusing) MAC is looking now breaking down the standings by division, conference and overall:

MAC EAST /vs. MAC East, MAC, Overall
Buffalo 2-0, 2-1, 2-4
Miami 1-0, 2-0, 3-3
Akron 1-0, 2-0, 3-3
BOWLING GREEN 1-0, 1-0, 3-2
Kent State, 1-2, 1-2, 3-3
Temple 0-2, 1-2, 1-5
Ohio 0-2, 0-2, 2-4

MAC WEST/vs. MAC West, MAC, Overall
Central Michigan 3-0, 3-0, 3-3
Western Michigan 1-0, 1-1, 2-4
Ball State 1-1, 2-2, 3-3
Eastern Michigan 1-1, 1-1, 2-4
Toledo 0-2, 0-2, 2-4
Northern Illinois 0-2, 0-3, 1-5

Excellent post. This game means EVERYTHING to our team this year. Just look at CMU & UB. Most people think they are having down years, but right now they are in the drivers seat to the MAC Champ Game. We have to win our div. games, probably at least 5 out of the 6 to play for the MAC Title. Lets take it to Miami!

I find it easy to say almost every MAC East game we’re about to play that it is the biggest or most important game on our schedule. But this game at Miami just might be "that" game for us this season. It’s our first MAC road game, we have a road trip at Kent State on deck, Miami is coming off back-to-back wins over Syracuse and Kent State, we’re off a loss to BC, it’s Homecoming for the Redhawks, they are favored by about three points over us, the game is just as important in the MAC for them as it is to us, Miami is the only team in the MAC with a winning record over us, the Redhawks have won seven of the last eight meetings in the series, etc. Yeah, I’d say it’s a BiG game for us.

This really couldn't be breaking any better for us. Kent is down, they were probably the scariest team in the division to us because of their vast rushing attack. Ohio is down and all but out. And the team on top is Buffalo?

Wait a minute. Buffalo has a MAC loss. They got killed by Ball State. They aren't in first, Miami and Akron are. Unless the MAC did something completely retarded with the standings this year...

They did....this year the crossover games are meaningless and only come into play if there is a tiebreak situation. For ex. playing Toledo is like a non-conference game now.

Awesome post. The season has always been about 5 games: Temple, Miami, Kent, Ohio & Akron. Because the result of those five games will determine the MAC East Champion and that is our #1 goal.

Beating Minny was nice. Winning the HC game was good. But the 5 East games are what it's all about.

Bottom line is - win and we're in (the MACC game). The rest is gravy.

Does Temple not count?

Finally, the real part of the season is upon us. I'm starting to hate the 4th OOC game, it really throws a wrench into conference schedules.

Bottom line, this team can beat everyone on the schedule, if they believe in themselves and have the confidence, they can get it done. I expect Saturday is going to be a very physical game, we need to be ready.

My bad. Lack of sleep due to a newborn child has obviously affected my ability to read posts.
