The day in Oxford

Perfect weather, beautiful setting. Plenty of Falcons in the parking lot. It was looking like a good day....

We should stop taking these games just for the payday. We should only play teams we're competitive with. Fill in the Blind Sisters......here.

No matter how bad it looked on TV, it had to have looked worse in person. BG was outplayed, outcoached, outphysicalled and outsmarted.

MU was bigger, stronger, faster, smarter, better, more disciplined, more mature and better coached. It was JV vs Varsity and oh by the way, MU is not that good. That was the third time I saw them live this year.

The Head Coach at MU is a throw-it kind of guy, but he knew BG couldn't stop the run and we didn't. If MU would've played "Candadian three-down instead of four" rules, MU still could have run the ball all day long. In the 2nd half when MU was trying to work the clock, they still ran it down our throat.

Our QB needs to learn to throw it away and not take 10+ yard sacks. Our receivers need to catch the ball cleanly and not juggle every pass. MU hits hard and every juggle was an inc.

Some teams you follow and live and die by the "W." These are your favorite pro teams and college teams. Some teams you follow just to have a pleasant afternoon. these are teams like the Florence Freedom, Col. Clippers, Cincinnati Cyclones and Dayton Dragons.

Go ahead and put the 2007 BGSU football team in the "pleasant afternoon" category.

When I went to BG for the Temple game, I thought there were way too few 3 and outs forced by BG. I thought Temple hung around way too long and the D bent way too much before they bailed themselves out with a big play, We never looked solid. We looked crappy then got a big play. We got no big plays against MU. We just looked crappy.

I've been a Coach B guy, but after seeing the last year and a half. It's getting hard to defend that position. We were young last year. we're just weak this year.

GO BG!!

Just a question, but are you suggesting that we leave the MAC or even drop down to that 1-AA-whatever-it's-called division? or do you not realize that Miami is in the MAC with us and it isn't a game that we play "just for the money." Maybe if we were in a conference like the ACC and we would be having a bad season like we seem to be getting into, I would understand a statement like that.

Sorry for the confusion. That was a lame attemp at humor. It was a reference to an earlier discussion about playing at BC.

It's just that it's one thing if we go to Oklahoma or BC or tOSU and get drilled, it's another thing to go to MU and get spanked.

GO BG!!

We had a good time in Oxford. Took in downtown before the game ate at a local pizza place. We all really like Yager, they do a great job of trying to keep their fans in the game.

Nice to hear you all had a nice day in Oxford. We are proud of Yager and the 'gameday experience'. The program is trying to do their best to get everyone in the game and have an enjoyable experience.
Thanks for coming down for the game! I am always glad when BG fans show up. I think they are among the classiest fans in the league.
And don't be too hard on your team. Miami wasn't looking at a very good season a few games ago and made some adjustments that have worked well. Injuries are killing us right now and guys are stepping up and making the best of opportunities.
Good luck the rest of the way!

The only thing you don't do at Yager Stadium is throw tootsie rolls after a BG touchdown, I was about thrown out.

Unrelated to the topic at hand. It was great to see the douche bag coach that isn't sure about playing Miami lose. Coach Kelly screw you. Maybe your little program isn't quite up to snuff with the rest of our gurgling conference.

That, and you don't wear white after Labor Day.

You cann wear white after Labor Day...they changed that rule a couple of years ago IIRC.

I like Oxford...it has more charm than Athens and less of a vomit smell. Hueston Woods is a nice park...I should have read the closure of the Raptor Center (due to construction) as an omen of sorts. Those little one room cabins are a fun place to kill a weekend if you have the right kind of company...

Depends on whether you want to be allowed in to exclusive Oxford establishments like Brick Street, where dress codes are rigidly enforced.

I can sympathize with how I'm sure you guys must be feeling right now--after the UC and Colorado games, I felt pretty awful myself. And it's a feeling that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Except Cincinnati and Marshall fans. Best of luck the rest of the way--kick some Kent State butt!

hello everyone. i know you obviously didnt like the outcome of the game, but i hope you enjoyed your time in oxford other than the game. we have been trying really hard to creat an experience for fans at the game. that is why tailgate town is a lot bigger this year too. did anyone get a chance to see the new ice arena? we had games friday and saturday against vermont, great times!
