Miami is over....Kent is next....

I'm putting that disaster in the file and locking the door. I was most disappointed in seeing a team ready to play physically but not mentally or emotionally. That job falls to the coaching staff as, IMO, it's their job to make sure the team is ready in all three aspects. Game day mindset....it wasn't there Saturday.
But, this team and program won't accomplish anything sitting around feeling sorry for itself. I'm tellin ya this Miami game really hurt me deep...from anger to embarrassment to a bit of depression. But then I needed to remember these are hard working kids that have busted their tails for years to get here. Bad days happen...it happens to just about every team. It happens to me in the office. Some days sales are great, some days I feel like I've had the sh*t kicked outta me. But the one thing I never do is give up. That is a sure way to fail. I forget the bad days and get back after it the next day. Keep working hard and good things will happen again.
I sincerely hope the coaching staff is making the proper adjustments to make sure this team is ready to play at 4pm Saturday. That's their job and what they're paid to do. Everyone here pretty much knows I support Coach Brandon but I also see areas in his job performance that need to improve. We all need to improve at something. Nobody's perfect. But that lack of emotion and enthusiasm from the team Saturday is something that should never happen....never. This team only gets 12 games a year in the regular season. 60 minutes for each game (unless OT) and that gives you roughly 720 measly minutes to make the most of the season. Now we're down to 360 minutes.
The Captains need to take the team by the balls and let them know what needs to be done to be successful. The Coaches must do a better job of putting the players in situations to give the team the greatest chance for success. EVERYONE needs to have the same mindset and be on the same page....otherwise, it simply won't work.
There are 6 games left to determine this season...it is far from over. I'm at every game left...I don't care what it looks like or what happened last week. Remember the feeling walking off the field Saturday and do everything possible to avoid that feeling this week.
Get after Kent...remember last year. Play hard, bust heads and bring back a very important W Saturday. I'll do my part by showing up and screaming my freakin lungs out. I trust the coaches and players will do their part as well. I'll never turn my back on this team or program...it just won't happen. This is the team I live and die with each week. No pro teams, not OSU or any other school. Just BGSU....roll along.
I think I'll take a day or two to step back and take a deep breath...maybe refrain from posting until later in the week. Saturday wasn't the end of the world and the beautiful sun rose on Sunday. I know there are more important things in life than football but this team still means the world to me.
GO FALCONS!! BEAT KENT STATE!
