MAC Football is Awful!

From what I've watched this year I think the MAC is awful this year! I watched both games on ESPNU last Saturday and both games were just terrible. I hope the conference has a better run in basketball. Temple beats Miami which kill us. I think Ball St. is the class of the MAC but I don't see how the MAC will get more than two bowl bids. That could be a good think.
I wonder if anyone in this conference could beat a top five 1-AA school?
I'm ready for Basketball season.

hmm interesting that this is coming from " OSU" falcon
comments like these really, really bother me. the MAC has great football and the fact that the teams are all beating each other means that the competition is getting fairly evenly matched, not that theres "awful" football. its great to watch and makes everything interesting. While teams like Iowa St and Minnesota are bad this year, the fact that the MAC can beat these teams is something to be encouraged about

It's hard to imagine a more pitiful year for the MAC than 1982.
Technically, most of the league, including Bowling Green, was I-AA for that single year because of attendance problems in past years.
Bowling Green struggled to a 7-5 finish, losing their last three games. They got swept in nonconference play, losing 33-14 at North Carolina and 24-7 at Long Beach State. They also got Whammied in Oxford and hammered in the Glass Bowl.
And, yet, most people around here don't remember remember how inept the MAC was that year.
What they do remember is that the Falcons won the MAC and nearly won the California Bowl.
Despite our latest Whammy at Miami, we've got a real shot to play in a bowl game and maybe even win the whole darned thing.
If it happens, that's what we'll remember.

Right, because Michigan and Minnesota did, right? Go look at your own mediocre conference where everyone beats up on everyone else. The Big Ten is just as mediocre as the MAC is this year. OSU will lose, Penn St., Wisky = overrated and Michigan ruined their NC hopes with their first 2 games. Take a look next time in the mirror before such an asinine comment.

Wow, I think football is ultra entertaining this year. There is a lot of parity in the MAC for a change and that makes it interesting. It has become a kind of coach's conference of late with the outcome of most any game being the product of the best game plan. BG stuck to what wasn't working at Miami and look what happened. A change in strategy at Kent State, and Bingo. Unfortunately, it took Brandon too long to figure that out. And BG will need another new look on Sat. to beat OU. GO BG! ----

I would never call a person who makes a post like this a douche, but it is nice to know we are drawing some interest at Oklahoma State. OSUFalcon, indeed.
Anyway...

I usually find Okies to be pretty cool. This guy is obviously from the other OSU. So, how are things in Corvallis, OSUFalcon?

Agreed. I've seen some pretty entertaining football this year from the MAC. Last Saturday is a great example. I watched Miami/Temple on TV before heading to Kent.
One game surprised me, and the other engrossed me. It was a pretty fun day.
Look at where we are, Buffalo controls its own destiny in the MAC east. Say what you want about "quality", but it's fun, and sports are supposed to be entertaining.

Big 10 football is certainly having a banner year...one team in the USA Today Coaches Top 20! (Ohio State, of course)
At least they're deserving of that position, having beaten Youngstown State, a 2-5 Washington team, Akron, Kent, Minnesota and Northwestern.

What's an Oregon State Falcon?
I thought their mascot was the Beavers.

I LOVE OSU!!! I have a Beavers Nike football shirt when we visited Corvallis in August. GO OSU BEAVERS!!!!
I find the MAC highly entertaining this year. Name one school out there that is dominant this year. The playing field is leveled more than ever.
And that goes for ALL college football this year. How does a Cal team lose to UCLA....which lost to Notre Shame and at Utah 44-6???? How does Utah then go on to lose 27-0 at UNLV??? How does BG get whacked at Miami, turn around and beat Kent. Miami goes on to lose at Temple, which BG took care of with few problems???
There are no dominant teams in college ball in 07. There's a lot of good teams but no great teams.
And the BiG Ten is nothing to write home about.

The MAC is definitely down this year, but as others have pointed out there really aren't many dominant teams in college football period this year. LSU is the best I've seen BY FAR, and they managed to lose a tough one at UK. Ohio State is a good team with a GREAT defense, but I don't trust Boeckman one bit at QB. I think they fall from the unbeaten this week at Happy Valley (has Tressel ever one there, I'm not sure he has?).
BC is a decent team but with that defense they wouldn't go undefeated against a quality schedule, but they don't play a quality schedule so anything is possible.
The only complete team I've seen this year is LSU.
The Big 10 is probably the weakest I can ever remember. OSU is the only above average team in there, and they haven't played squat for competition so they're pretty tough to guage. UM is rolling in conference play, but we all saw what they did OOC. The conference as a whole really doesn't have any decent OOC wins, but some ugly OOC losses...
I do think the top teams in the MAC are light years away from where the top teams were in '03, but the bottom feeders are probably better now than they were back then as well. On the whole I'm not going to argue that this is a great conference this year, but it's not like we're the only ones. The ACC & Big 10 are total jokes as well. The Big 12 isn't that great either, and I"m not convinced any of the teams in the Big East are exactly great either. The Pac 10 & SEC are clearly the class of college football, but still the best teams in these conferences have losses.
It's been a crazy year in college football...
