Why is he our back-up? Seriously, does anyone know? When he comes in, our passing offense goes out the door. I don't think he even attempted a single pass against WMU. Why have a quarterback in that makes your offense completely one-dimensional? Johnson needs to be #2 on the chart for the rest of the season.

I hope to heaven that the limp I saw Omar sporting was temporary. He does live down the hall from me, I guess I could do an injury report for myself.

I feel the same way. I thought it was kind of funny that when I and a couple of other people started yelling 'throw the ball' when Brandon was within earshot he took out Washington and put in Turner on the ensuing drive.

It kind of pisses me off that we won't let him throw the ball. I don't think he can be so bad that he should'nt and if he IS that bad he probably shouldn't even be on our depth chart, let alone in the backup role...

Turner never played, Boiler had it right. It was Johnson that came in after Washington.

This has been covered in other threads already, but.....

Washington was not allowed to throw the ball because Brandon was trying to show some respect to WMU by not continuing to run up the score. We were running the ball to keep the clock moving and just get it over with really. We did not throw the ball until Stud made a big deal about WMU blitzing us. It just happened that Johnson was in there when Brandon gave the okay to call some passes.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I don't think I've ever seen Washington attempt to throw in a game. That can't ALL be because of playcalling.

it can when he comes in in the second half with the Falcons up 30 or 40 points. I don't think he's been in a game situation where he's had to do more than hand off to burn the clock. He has no reason to throw passes in any situation he's been in, and hasn't.

If we don't want to throw the ball, we could just direct snap it to PJ or BJ, we do that anyways.

My whole point is, I'm kind of getting tired of all this Washington bashing. This isn't the first thread. I have no idea if he's any good either, but he has had no chance to prove it either way. I believe he's thrown a few passes, but mostly, he goes in during clean up time to hand the ball off and run the clock. He has run a couple of times and I have been impressed with his quickness.

I seem to remember this same argument being brought up by some UT fans this past preseason in reference to Omar. They were saying he was going to suck because of his performance in clean up time last year. That is no indication of the ability of a QB. It wasn't fair in reference to Omar and it's not fair of our own fans to be bashing Washington in this case either.

You're wrong about that, he has completed a few throws. He always plays in a tough position. Mop up duty. He's out there to basically run the clock out. It's not fair to judge him in those situations because they can't let him go out there and sling it (though they can tell him to do that this week).

If we get up big again I expect us to still pull starters, but I agree....I don't think the play calling will be so conservative for the Terd's.

We may see Omar run more... unless the Falcons get out to a big lead early.

Actually if you watch carefully for some reason our whole offense goes in the crapper after Omar and some of the starting O-lineman leave. Why this is I don't know. :shrug:

Hmmmm...maybe it's because less talented players are running more basic plays...

This limping thing started for Omar in the OU game. He was limping noticably going into the locker room at half. I did not see any limping in the EMU game though. He probably has the usual pains for this time of year. I imagine he is heavily taped up for the games.

I know I cringed when I saw him take off running when the game was already in hand. We need to stop doing that!!!
