After the Miami game, I was troubled hearing comments from our coaching staff and players about how we weren’t as prepared as we should have been and how we might have been a little too confident heading into that game. We all know what the end result was from that contest. This past weekend at Kent State was huge as we got right back in the running again for not only a possible MAC Championship, but also a bowl bid. The same attention we put on the Kent State game needs to be paid to not only Ohio, but everyone else we play this year. But first thing is first, we need to take it one game at a time.
Looking at the MAC East, there is simply parity across the entire division. Each and any of the seven MAC East teams can beat one another. Case in point, BG rolls over Temple, Miami crushes BG, then Temple beats Miami. In Miami’s win over BG and Temple’s win over Miami, it was also done predominately with backup QB’s as well. We are right back in the think of things and must play our best this week.
Ohio might be down but it’s not out yet. They are defending MAC East Champions, they have some very good players, and they are a pretty balanced team both running and passing the ball. We know McRae can and will run the ball so we must stop him, but it looks like we’re going to have to prepare for both Bower and Scott at QB as both are playing and it seems every week one steps it up over the other. I didn’t realize this until glancing at the roster, but OU’s offense & ST are filled with BCS transfers (either straight from a BCS school or from a JUCO in between). QB Bower (Illinois), QB Scott (Cal), TE Carter (Vanderbilt), K Braunstein (Washington), RB Flintall (Wake Forest) and they also have another D-I transfer at TE Mooney (New Mexico State).
Lastly, we have had a lot of success recently against Ohio and I hope that continues. We just need to get ahead early and stay ahead and one thing we don’t want is OU lining up to attempt a game-winning FG. Ohio kicker Michael Braunstein, who transferred from Washington, is a perfect 12-for-12 on the year and holds the current NCAA record for most consecutive field goals at 20 in a row dating back to his last eight at UW.
GO BG!!!
I hope we’re “prepared” for the Ohio game

"This has nothing to do with winning. If those boys do their best and fail, I'll still be proud, but if they don't give it their all and I don't give them mine, then it's my failure and my disgrace...Back then, I didn't have the heart to give them rules and drive them to the edge, to the point where they hated my guts! Tommy's brother died because I failed; he was not *prepared.* And I will never let that happen again, ever!"

Agreed, and as mentioned above, I truly believe any MAC team can beat any other MAC team this year. I don’t think there’s a single team in the conference where I would say either there’s no way we can't beat them or that there's no way we can't lose to them. But since we’ve played our way into a good position with a huge road win last week, this game Saturday is very important and is critical to our hopes of a league title and bowl bid. It’s a game I believe we should win, I just hope we do.FalconTurf wrote:I would guess as our guys look at results around the country it becomes very evident that no opponent can be overlooked this year (or any year). There are no wins scheduled, wins must be earned.
GO BG!!!
