Check the math

Alright... someone please explain this to me.

BG is 2-1 in MAC with 5 MAC games left.
If we go 5-0, we will finish at 7-1 in the MAC East.

Miami is 3-1 in MAC with 3 MAC games left.
If they go 3-0, they will be 6-1 in the MAC East.

Question #1: Why do we play one more MAC game than Miami?

Question #2: Can we win the division by a 1/2 game even if we both have one loss?

Question #3: Does our game with Toledo count as a MAC win or loss?

What am i missing? Thanks. Moe :( :?

For the MAC East, any game a MAC East opponent plays against a MAC West opponent does not count towards the MAC East title.

I thought this rule was rediculous until I realized something like this could happen. Now I just think how rediculous it is that Temple was added to make the divisions unbalanced.

Honestly, when Temple was added, I just wondered how a free win to all teams in the MAC east would help the situation. How wrong I was.

I just think it's ridiculous that no one can spell ridiculous. ;-)

Miami will play six MAC East games just like BG, but Miami is the only MAC East team that will play one instead of two games against a MAC West opponent. The crossover games are essentially like a non-conference game unless they are needed for a tie-break situation.

Thanks for the explanation, even though it makes little sense.

We have to hope Miami loses one of their three remaining MAC games.
Of course, it would be a little to hopeful to expect BG to win out.

But, hey! I'm in eternally BGSU optimist!

If we win out Miami can lose to Akron, Buffalo, or OU and were in.

We don't even have to win out. We could lose to EMU and Toledo and still win the East as long as we beat Ohio, Akron and Buffalo and Miami loses one of their games.

Ummmm....we BETTER NOT lose that last game!!!! I'm sick and tired of losing to them...3 in a row and 9 of the last 12. It stops this year.

I have a real good feeling that this year's team is NOT going to let that happen. (Lose to TU) All of the veterans that have endured all or part of these last three loses will make sure we pay them back in a BiG way!! :-D
