Interesting perspective.

No stand out players? Jarvis is a solid RB, any Big Ten team would have him. Nate Davis at Ball State will be very good next year, Parmele's having a solid year. While obviously there aren't going to be any players winning any sort of national awards this year in the MAC, there are some very good players.

As far as the teams, college football as a whole this year has parity. It's what makes sports exciting for some, and others detest it. MAC teams face the same dilemma every other team is facing, and that's the balance of scholarships being given out. This year more than ever, there is no clear cut powerhouse team, every Top 25 team has a game changer and are very well balanced.

I enjoy looking at the scores on Saturday's for the MAC and seeing who is doing what. It keeps me interested in what's going on in the league because this year a division loss is so key. So, to me the unpredictability in college football is a welcome change than seeing USC, UF, Oklahoma and Ohio State put up 50+ every game.

As I skimmed the article (because that's all Hack is worth) I felt his points were that Toledo is terrible this year against the non-conference schools and Toledo has no apparent star playere so that translates into the MAC being terrible. He doesn't really cover the MAC, he covers the the MAC from Toledo's perspective.

Some on here question why the MAC gets such a bad rap from area fans and is not taken seriously and I would point to articles such as this from The Blade as one big reason.

The MAC just hasn't recruited the breakthrough players that we saw for almost a decade and our offenses which had given us an edge against OOC foes have been figured out. The MAC coaches just need to find the new gravy train for offense, hop aborad and ride it out.

Look no further than the run and shoot which progressed into the west coast offense, which progressed into the spread offense which will probably progress into the super spread offense.

No stand out players? Hmmm. What about that nose guard at down at BG? Isn't he one of the best in the nation?

Well, I'm not sure what NG you are referring to. We certainly have some quality players, but we don't have any Rothligsberger, Pennington, Leftwich, type players in the MAC right now.
