Once again, the fan support is horrible. Oh well, I still love my falcons! GO BGSU, beat THE OU.

1. Having a night game Halloween weekend.
2. Iffy weather.
3. Ohio State game.

It's a shame stupid factors like these decide our attendance, but what can you do.

The first two factors I can understand, but the third one is NOT a good reason. Oh well, GO BG!

None of them are good reasons. I'd like to see the first two drive away OSU fans from attending a game. What can you do, we love BG football but I guess if people don't care enough, they don't. We've been awesome in marketing the product of BG Football I think, but in the end you can't beg people to go to a game. I'm missing just my second game at the Doyt since 2003, being out of state sucks.

Our fans were pansies tonight, both students and townies. The student attendance was HORRIBLE tonight. I realize that some of them might have been scattered sitting with their parents, but even so, we didn't have 1/3 of the students we had on Homecoming against WKU.

Sorry to say this but they need more promotions going on throughout the game to get the fans involved. Nobody is showing up the the Sweet Caroline rendition depite how well the band picks up that old song. It's time to think minor league baseball promotions. $50 dollar gift certificates to local businesses for various goofy on field contests and/or drawings at the end of every quarter and during various timeouts. Some for the students and some for us regular fans.

Here's an idea for President Ribeau. The University could have a drawing for 1 semester's tuition at the end of the third quarter.
Rule 1: THE UNIVERSITY STUDENT MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN!
Rule 2: The student must be registered at the gate before kickoff.
(Probably against NCAA rules but in theory this would get a nice crowd to start the game and for most of the game.)

Wait until next week.

1. High school football - either the final week of the regular season or first week of the playoffs. Going to lose some people there.

2. Work night - people from more than a couple hours away aren't going to bust their butts to get to BG.

3. MAC East title is basically gone - MAYBE we go bowling if we get things in order. I don't see that happening. The game against Akron is pretty much meaningless.

4. Weather probably won't be that great next week either.

I will be there, but I don't expect more than 10k.

Let's throw in Akron as well. They seem to act as an "attendance depressant no matter where they play.

I won't be at the football game Friday night, either.
Now that the real season has started, I'll be in Kalamazoo.

There is a home game next week? I'd forgotten about OU until today.

In terms of promotions? We go in circles about it. Most of the time, the University does something that costs nothing, is ill promoted, and means nothing to anybody at the game, even if they were aware of it. And with the word on the street being negative, and its been negative down in Columbus for two years now, among those alumni I know, I doubt any stunts will work.

And that Sweet Caroline? Stupid idea in the first place. Contrived, silly, stupid. And it looks even worse with it being done during the world series, by the team that just blew away the favorite team of most people at the game. Passing out "new tradition" cards? Please...

Sad thing now, is that had they replaced the coach, they might have made more money with more people coming, because they had hope or curiosity about the program. So they don't, and they'll eat three years of decline, and spend another few years building things back up again.

If we finish 6-6, that's one thing. But if we were to tank it and finish 4-8 again, I think Brandon's outta here. Greg Christopher isn't just going to sit back and let this program suffer. I know we don't usually fire coaches at BGSU, but if Christopher looks at the attendance and determines that we might make some of that buyout money back the next year and improve the team at the same time, Brandon might get axed. Of course, I would hope that we don't just mail it in the rest of the way.

Well, earlier today I went to my first game at Kansas State, and I was amazed with the student section. The enrollment at KSU is currently about 23,000, slightly larger than BG, but the Snyder Family stadium seats around 50,000. I would guess that there were probably 10,000 students at the game today, and they were vocal, organized, and excited. Just amazing.

KSU is the only game in town. BG has about ten other D1A schools within a three hour drive and the nearest large population center, Toledo, has its own team. Marketing in that environment is tough, although you have certainly shown the ability to draw 20,000+ with a good team.
