Or at the very least change it to a week in which we don't have a home game. For all our sakes. We are officially jinxed playing at home on family weekend. 3 years in a row we've been defeated on Parent/Family Weekend, and in 2 of those games we've lost by 30+. What is it with the players on these days?

It's getting to the point where these bad performances on Family Weekend can no longer be considered coincidence. Is it really that much of a distraction to the players? I don't get it, but something has to be done about this.

Are you serious about this? I suppose we should just get Miami off the schedule to since we can't beat them. I think the real problem is the 0 defense we have.

We can't change having to play Miami.

We can't change our bad defense. (Okay maybe we can, but it hasn't been done since I've been here)

We CAN change what I believe to be a big distraction every year based on our recent performances. How could it not be a distraction? Am I serious? You better believe it. I'm sick and tired of putting an L up on the board every year on Parent/Family Weekend regardless of who we are facing.

TG, don't put words into my mouth please. I never said that parents of players shouldn't come to games. I just think that having a university wide slew of events involving students and parents, for whatever reason, is not conducive to our football team playing well that weekend. It's been proven three times in a row now. Now I know that's not a huge sample size...yet, but its clear that there is a problem.

I'm sorry then, I thought you were saying that parents being there made players play bad.

I still don't get what you're getting at, and think it's coincidence, but it's cool...

Was it a waning gibbous tonight? I couldn't tell behind the clouds off to the east. The moon did look pretty cool though. Too bad you can't see any stars because of the lights.

the problem being that our football wasn't been very good the past three years

Family Weekend must not been a distraction back in 04, didn't we blowout either WMU or OU Family Weekend of 04.

I know we're mad and some of us very emotional about the loss but can we stop creating pathetic threads that make BG fans look like morons? Have we sunk to the level of calling out players and blaming family weekend? Give me a break.

It's not even on this board, the only emotion out of the crowd last night in our section was some jackass booing and yelling at Sheehan in the third quarter for not running the ball or throwing a td pass when we were in the redzone. A few football parents had a word with the guy and I didn't hear anything from him again.

So you think its pathetic to call out Zach Charles for fumbling away two punts, one of which sealed the victory for Ohio? I'm sorry, but I think THAT'S pathetic. If I know for sure I could do something better than one of our players, in this case catching punts/calling fair catch/letting them roll if necessary, I reserve the right to call that guy out. I did the same thing to a few of our basketball players when they couldn't make free throws last year. It may not be the classiest thing to do, it may not be the most popular thing to do, but it has to be done. Those two plays were huge momentum killers, and one of them prevented what certainly could have been a game-tying drive. You can't have mistakes like that on things so basic as catching punts and expect to win. That's a fact.

Bgfalconfromcincy - I don't know where to find our all-time results on Parent/Family Weekend. I'd sure like to get my hands on them though. By use of the central limit theroem (statistics concept), you need a sample size of at least 20 to run a statistical hypothesis test, so I'll need our games from 1987 onward.

Why do you seem to think BG was going to just march down the field score and then get the 2 point conversion so easily?
Calling out players for dropping a punt from a Division 1 punter in Bowling Green, OH with the wind whipping, and 11 guys trying to take your head off is a pretty classless thing to do. I'm fairly certain no one on this board could catch it. And why exactly does it have to be done? You think he's going to come on here and say man I should have caught that ball? Or is GB going to stumble across it and say bgsufalcon is right?

I do think it's pathetic to start threads trashing players and blaming family weekend on losses. Should we take away homecoming too? If you must trash someone trash the coaches, they get paid for this. Charles does a very good job of returning the ball. Do I think he should catch the ball first and get in better position to actually make a play? Yes I do. I think he knows he screwed up by not catching the punts. He was benched. He got the message. He and his family doesn't need a Sunday Morning punt returner to post how horrible he was. And hell if you know you can do better you should definitely contact Brandon and walk on. Can't wait to see you out there. I'll be cheering you on. Hope you don't drop a punt!

Can't we cancel Halloween? or push it to the offseason?
