This place makes me laugh
I thought I would try to wait to post anything until at least Monday after what happened yesterday, but I can't.
I told my good friend who's blood is probably more orange and brown than mine, that come today (Sunday) people would forget how young this team is.
Look people. Do we want to win every game? Of course. Do we want to have a shot at a MAC Title every year? Absolutely. But to get on here after every loss and bash the kids and coaches of this team in the middle of a season, to me, is what's truly sickening. They are kids! Most of them not even 20 years old. To me, that's a bright spot. A chance to take their lumps while they're young so that when the time comes next year and year after that, they've been in the trenches and know what it takes to win. But it seems the majority of the "fans" on here get off on climbing on the band wagon after wins, only to jump off after a loss and then proceed to criticize every aspect of the team. Don't get me wrong. If the team folds up shop and loses out and the coaches don't get them prepared for the next 4 weeks, then by all means, come on here and go off. But for god's sake, at least wait until the season is over to do it. To all the true Falcon fans out there, and you know who you are, hang in there. I'm right there with you. Losses are tough - no doubt. But taking them in stride and finding ways to improve - NOT dogging the team - is how fans move on.
No more posts here for me until the season ends, but you can bet I'll be watching or listening to every single game from here on out. And I'll have my ass in a seat at the Doyt when it comes time to play that team up north.. no matter what our record is!

I'm glad to hear no posts because even young can kids play hard. And all those young kids that are sophomores this season played last season meaning they are no longer young. Young would be what Willie Geter is a true freshman those are young kids, who by the way was the best player on the field last night. No need to question peoples fanhood because we're sick of watching BG lose to inferior opponents. Wake up and smell the coffee buddy.....we were young last year, at some point especially over half way through the season the freshman are sophmores and the sophmores are juniors.

Finding fault with the team after games like this is about as easy and requires about as much thought as blinking an eye.
Breaking News Flash on Action Sports Live!: The team is not perfect! Awww, mommy, I wanted a perfect team this year. Or at least some progress towards being a perfect team, like a .500 record in conference play so far. Um, wait...
This doesn't mean the problems don't exist and don't need correcting. It doesn't mean they can be ignored or whitewashed, and it doesn't mean that we're promoting fascism by suppressing all criticism. It does mean that a group of players and coaches shouldn't be abandoned like a used dishrag when the going gets tough. Luckily, I don't sense that to be the case around here. Thanks for keeping things in perspective, windycityfalcon.

I say the say things I have been....and we are deficient a good HC which has lead us to where are...we have at times had glimmers of variety and hope then we revert right back to doing and sticking with stuff that doesnt work...windycityfalcon wrote:I thought I would try to wait to post anything until at least Monday after what happened yesterday, but I can't.

your right they are all kids...but they are getting paid to play football, as fans we have the earned the right to be critical of every aspect of Falcon sports from poor marketing decisions to great ones, from bad coaches and players to great ones.
on that if I am not mistaken those
few seniors we have all this youth...they are all iin very key positions for productivity, not to knock the up comers at all they look good, but these guys that are leaving have been pretty important to the wins and other on field success we have had this season.
So while I can agree with you that there is good reason for what you have said and hope for the future...that future is very dark, not because of the players...we have good players from our past sucessfull seasons and being in the lime light..it is dark because coaches have gotten very noncreative and you can not even call it conservative because a conservative O runs the ball...we just have like 4 plays and a 3 variations on each of those and our defensive scheems are flat and our linbackers are not moving around presnap like they used to mixing it up..its just bad coaching.

I understand the "growing pains" argument to a certain extent. There ARE some new faces out there, even if those faces were on the team last year. TS is starting his first season, and honestly he's playing like an rookie (good sometimes, bad others). Geter is new, and he just recently figured out the rush offense. We have a few receivers that are either new to this school or new to the starting/playing role. Other than that, there's no excuse.
How do we have an offensive line that basically gives up at the end of the games? TS had tons of time at the beginning of the game, and at the end he had pressure basically every play. That interception that he threw was due to the pressure. People have been commenting on his stats as a sign he needs to sit in favor of AG. 19/41 is close to 50%, and I saw at least 5 dropped passes that were easy catches, and another 3 or so that were passes with the potential to be caught. If we add those 8, he is now 27/41, or 66%, and all of a sudden people aren't calling for his head. Heck, if they had caught those 5, we're talking about 59%, many more yards, and the potential for more points (completed passes do move the chains remember). If our O-line is really getting this tired, perhaps we need to look at the conditioning they did over the spring and summer and ask why they are tired. And since we can't do anything about this now, is there some sort of rotation we can put into place? I know it's rare to rotate offensive linemen, but I'll take a full strength 2nd stringer over the tired #1.
