Update on Corey

Here is the latest and what I know.

Corey saw a hand specialist on Tuesday. The Dr. ordered an MRI for Wednesday. On Wednesday the MRI showed that Corey ruptured both the ulnar and radial Collateral Ligaments around his Metacarpophalangeal joint on his thumb. I think I have the correct terms here.

Here is the how that injury happens, Corey said the safety basically fell on his hand driving his thumb into the ground.

Here is the location of the injury

So basically the thumb is just barely hanging onto his hand, obviously there are some tendons and other flesh that keeps the thumb attached but the thumb is useless in this condition.

They are going to schedule surgery to repair the ligaments next week. I will keep you updated on how things go.

That has got to be an awful injury not just for a WR, but for a human being.

Hopefully Corey has a gf that can take good care of him...or he may need to learn to be ambidextrous.

I can't even imagine how painful that would be. Best of luck to a speedy recovery. How long of a rehab are we talking?

Best of luck to Corey and lets pray for a full recovery.

This type of medical info should be flagged so some of us don't faint onto our keyboards.....

Yeah, we needs some kind of warning. I don't want nightmares of me being tackled and my thumb being driven into the ground, yikes! :( Yes, speedy recovery Corey.

He's a fighter for sure...he'll be ready to be on the field well before the Dr. clears him to play...hey Doc, let the kid play!

After reading that, what blows my mind is that he was on the sidelines playing catch with Glaud after a five minute tape job in the locker room. Ouch!

I wish him nothing but the absolute best and hope that he has a full and complete recovery.
