A four-way tie in the MAC East is very possible

Looking at the standings right now, we could actually have a four-way tie in the MAC East between BG, Ohio, Miami & Buffalo. It might seem like a lot would have to happen for that to occur, but it actually wouldn’t take much. If BG beats Buffalo, and Ohio beats Akron and Miami, and Miami beats Akron, and Buffalo beats Kent State - we’d have ourselves a four-way tie. Those are all situations that could happen and it's certainly a scenario that could occur. Here's where things stand now:
MAC EAST: DIVISION, MAC, OVERALL
Miami 3-1, 4-1, 5-5
Buffalo 3-1, 4-2, 4-6
BOWLING GREEN 3-2, 3-2, 5-4
Ohio 2-2, 3-3, 5-5
Temple 2-3, 3-3, 3-6
Akron 1-3, 2-3, 3-6
Kent State 1-3, 1-4, 3-6

This is so crazy! Those teams that need to win in order for that to happen will most likely be favored in a lot of those games too. Not like that means anything this year anyway. But dang we need a 14th team in the MAC soon!

...and then if BG decides to wear orange, and Miami wears white, and it starts raining at Indian Wells, and Johnny Depp takes another weird movie role and if the ghost of Thespis runs amok, and if you touch yourself at night, and if we nuke our imaginations...there will be a 4 way tie.

Four-way ties does us no good since we would be 1-2 against OU, UB, and Miami.
Without trying to give myself a headache with all the scenarios, I'm gonna just say it is nearly impossible for us to win the East. I think we need a Buffalo, Ohio, BG tie with Akron finishing fourth.

I would just be thrilled if we win out. Whatever happens, happens.

Basically we need Miami to lose out and for us to beat Buffalo. That's the cleanest scenario. Of course, Ohio could get into that tie mixture as well, which would screw us over unless Temple wins their final MAC game as well, which would tie them with Miami for fourth. Temple beat Miami, so they would be the team of reference in the BG/Buff/Ohio tiebreak. All three teams beat Temple so you'd have to go to the next possible tiebreaker.
So in other words, we need Miami to lose out, and we need Temple to beat Kent State in their final East game. Then we could still win the division with a win at Buffalo.

I think I'd rather be in the west...Thinking in terms of other sports, I'd rather play Toledo twice in b-ball instead of Miami.

If we win out, even if we don't win the MAC East, I think that would probably give us the best overall record in the entire MAC. That being said, I think we would make a good case for a bowl bid at 8-4.

Our loss to Ohio hurt us bad. If we could have won that game, right now we'd be in first place in the MAC East all alone at 4-1. Yes, you could say woulda/coulda/shoulda about the Miami game that we lost too, but in that game we never had a chance but we did against OU. The loss to Ohio not only strapped us with two losses, but it allowed Ohio to own a tie-break advantage on us and it put them right back into the race themselves where a loss would have eliminated them.
Like some of you said, all we can do now is try and win out and cross our fingers for some help elsewhere. If there is any kind of multiple-team tie break, we're very likely to be on the outside looking in again because it would likely involve teams like Ohio and Miami who we have lost to. If we win out, we’d finish 8-4 and maybe we could go bowling somewhere. The MAC Championship still could be out of the picture, but a bowl bid to any bowl would be very welcomed.

I don't want to go back to the MAC West either. Been there, done that, didn't like it, put someone else there.

I just want us to win as many games as possible. Everything else will take care of itself. We should expect more from our teams. We should expect nothing less than undefeated seasons. It might not always be realistic, but that should always be the goal. Otherwise why bother to compete, if you aren't going to try your hardest? I really want this team to finish the season strong. I want us to play some serious football. I want Dan Macon to run like he did against Akron. I want Tyler Sheehan to look crisp in completing passes. I want our O-Line to be the studs we know they are and keep our QB's uniforms clean. I want our receivers to make big catches, like Marques Parks did on Friday. I want P.J. Mahone to be at his disruptive best. I want Sean O-Drobinak to comman double teams and make QB's have to be aware of his location. I want D'yrall Briggs to just bull rush some O-Linemen over. I can't wait for the next game! Bring on Eastern!

When the MAC office calls Coach B and officially tells him BG has been eliminated from the East title chase, I'll give in. I just want to beat EMU next. Yes, the Ohio loss really stings now. Just beat EMU next...

Agree with Freak...take care of our business and let the chips fall where they may. Stranger things have happened, so we'll have to wait and see what happens this year. I'm sure most of us remember the wacky 2005 season when Akron came out of nowhere.

Can't forget about Akron in 05, JP...unreal how they got the stars to align that month.
