Hypothetical Bowl.....
Lets assume BG does unlikely and wins out but is not able to win the east cuz of Miami winning out, what really are our chances of getting a bowl anyway with our attendance woes. These bowls are out to make money. I don't see our attendance figures impressing any bowl committee into wanting to extend an invitation regardless of our eligibility.

Yeah, from what I heard, they looked around after the 2nd quarter and saw you left early, so no bowl for us.

Re: Hypothetical Bowl.....
I heard a member of the International Bowl committee outside the pressbox mention that Falconboy could be stopped at the border to prevent him from tossing a wet blanket over the festivities. Mr. Christopher promised we would sell more tickets if Falconboy would not be in attendance. Unfortunately, Mr. Christopher mentioned the athletic department still has not found a way to isolate him at home contests although a sound-proof booth in the south endzone is still under consideration.MajorFalcon92 wrote:Falconboy wrote:Lets assume BG does unlikely and wins out but is not able to win the east cuz of Miami winning out, what really are our chances of getting a bowl anyway with our attendance woes. If we win out? It's a virtual lock, I think.Falconboy wrote:Lets assume BG does unlikely and wins out but is not able to win the east cuz of Miami winning out, what really are our chances of getting a bowl anyway with our attendance woes.
At most, four MAC teams will finish the regular season with winning records, and it could be fewer. We have three bowl tie ins right now.
If the MAC has fewer than four teams with winning regular seasons, and Bowling Green is one of them, Bowling Green would be a lock for a bowl game. Period.
While 6-6 teams can go bowling, they have to get in line behind the teams with winning records. Only exception is a MAC champion that enters the title game 6-6 (or worse). But I don't consider that scenario worth spending a lot of time on at the moment.
Moreover, in your scenario, Bowling Green would be tied, at least, for the best overall record in the MAC (Only Central Michigan -- currently losing in Kalamazoo -- can also go 8-4). That would give us a small leg up even if there were more than two other choices for the MAC's three bowl games. Attendance wouldn't be *that* big a factor in that situation. This is the MAC; ain't none of us sending 40,000 fans to Toronto.
A big big game this weekend is Toledo-Ball State -- and I think we need to suck it up and root for the Rockets.
If Toledo beats Ball State, that puts Bowling Green in firm control of their own destiny. If the Falcons beat Toledo and win one other game along the way, the Falcons will go bowling. They'd have a winning regular season record, and only two other MAC schools -- at most -- would be able to say that.
It's really that simple, I think.

I would say since the mac oddly has 3 bowls....that 2 would go to the west and one to east Champs. any others
would go to the next highest ranked mac team
the bowl matchups will be interesting at the least this year....but in the end that intrest wains as the most interesting are played so long after the season that they carry no real performance indicators.

Re: Hypothetical Bowl.....
I have to admit, Falconboy is correct. Our attendance figures won't impress any bowl committee enough to make them want to extend an invitation. However, I don't see any other eligible MAC team's attendance figures impressing any bowl committee enough to make them want to extend an invitation, either.Falconboy wrote:I don't see our attendance figures impressing any bowl committee into wanting to extend an invitation regardless of our eligibility.
Since BG has brought good crowds to its last two bowl games, perhaps that would be the sort of thing that might sway a bowl committee.
