Update on Corey

Corey had surgery yesterday to repair his Ulnar Collateral Ligament. My first post on this was incorrect in that I said he also ruptured his Radial Collateral Ligament. But that ligament is fine. He ruptured another ligament on the inside of the thumb but I don't know its name. So they went in and repaired the two ruptures.

Apparently the ligament, when it ruptured folded up onto itself and got caught under some muscle/tendon tissue. What that means is if we had continued the treatment of just casting the injury, it would have never healed and Corey would have likely lost the use of that thumb for normal grasping of objects. I am glad we went for a second opinion.

They stitched each ligament together and placed a pin into the bone to hold them in place. He will be in a cast for 4 weeks, then they will remove stitches and I think the pin. That begins an 8-12 week rehab with a soft splint/brace.

Corey seems to be doing fine, he was still pretty drugged up when I talked with him. I will let you know more as I learn it.

I don't expect you will see him at the game Friday, but knowing Corey if he can be there he will. Hope to have him with me when we head up to whatever bowl game BG goes to this year. I am sure he would enjoy sitting with all the crazy falcon fans and experiencing first hand what I get to enjoy each weekend.

Glad to hear his surgery went OK. I hope he makes a full recovery and helps BG beat up on some OOC teams next year. But if you want to keep him out of the UT game again next year, I will be very happy. :-D

J/K. Glad the surgery was a success though.

An image that will be burned into your mind on 11/23/07 no doubt.

IT is coming to the Doyt.... What is IT?

Two weeks out now Falcons, let the UT-BG smack begin.

On a more lighter note, I hope Corey recovers 100%, he was a one man wrecking crew at last year's game.

Correction...our offensive line was the wrecking crew...they wrecked the game for us...and our defense too...and AT...it was a bad game.

Good news! I'm often surprised at the variance between physicians looking at the same injury. A friend's son was scheduled for major surgery that would end a very promising baseball career- after a second opinion a much less invasive option was suggested, worked like a charm and allowed him to continue pitching. Frightening as a parent trying to help your son make that decision. Sounds like the right call. Good luck, Corey.

He denies his BG degree and we deny any knowledge of him having been a student here.

If it weren't for those damn BG shorts of his and his tendency to hang out here to reminisce, it would all work out.

I'm paid rather rather well by both my current employer and Uncle Sam too, so I don't sweat a grammatical error here or there.

Was that more better? ;-)
