Just got back from Ypsilanti...

This game was nuts. It was a roller coaster ride complete with sudden peaks and valleys that seemed to come out of nowhere. Our section was very close knit and fun to be in tonight. We may not have outdrawn the EMU fans, but there wasn't a soul wearing green on our side of the stands.
First of all, what in the hell was GB thinking going for the touchdown on 4th and goal late in the 1st half. Dumb! Kick the damn field goal!
The defense didn't play well at all in the first half, but they did make a couple of key stands in the third quarter that allowed our offense to reclaim control of the game. By the time EMU made their run to take the lead back at 32-31, you at least felt confident that the offense would come through again and give us the lead, which they did. Sheehan played great tonight, and our RB by committee did pretty well too.
An offensive lineman scoring a TD...you don't see that every day.
What else, oh yeah, RYNEARSON STADIUM SUCKS!!! Their concession stands didn't even have any hot dogs made when I went down there, their bathrooms had yellowish water flowing out of the sinks (yuck!), the whole concourse area was dirty, the stadium lights were blinding looking over from our section, and their attendance was embarrassing for even a MAC school. Thank goodness we won't be playing at EMU again for at least 5 years. Their stadium is a joke.
Overall, it was an extremely fun time tonight, and it was a big win for us. Only 2 games left now, and a split probably sends us to bowl, a sweep definitely gets us there. We're also still alive in the East race. GO FALCONS!!!

none of that stuff surprises me, I have never been there but I saw it at the women's game at EMU last year and it just looks like a dump

Actually, I thought the stadium itself was quite impressive! Some of the services and loack of a crowd left something to be desired, but if you put a full ouse in that stadium it would be VERY nice, and thesetup with the basketball arena at one end and the locker room etc at the other are quite nice, although the locker room is set too far back.

I would have kicked the field goal, but I think it's a judgement call. If Freddie (bless his heart) Barnes pulls that in, we aren't talking about it today.
Brandon seems to be a bit more aggressive on fourth downs than other coaches, and i tend to agree with him on that, overall. Statistically, I think he's on the right track. Most coaches are probably too conservative.

The only thing I thought about kicking the FG vs. going for it there is it was a 6 point game, not 7. A FG would have kept you in line scorewise down the road. Of course, with this offense, and the way it can play when it decides to get moving, the difference between 3 and 4 points with 30 minutes to play is pretty inconsequential.

I'd have gone for it too. I would much rather have the Brandon that goes balls out all the time than the one that punts on 4th and inches from the opponents 40 constantly.
Schad's right. Statistically, you're much better off in most situations going for it on fourth and short from anywhere on the field.

He probably was thinking "If I go for the field goal, then I'm going to read some stupid post from bgsufalcon24 about how I should have gone for the touchdown being as it was late in the half and we could have gone into the locker room tied instead of down by 4."

HAHAHAHAHA! Funny...
If we scored the TD, we would have been up by 1 at halftime, not tied. Also, without a score we were down by 6, not 4. Next time you feel the need to take an unnecessary shot at me, get your math straight.

Oh, I see.
You wanted us to go into the locker room down by 3 instead of a chance to be up by 1 at the half.

Let's face it: At that time of the game, it was a stupid call. It easily could have resulted in a loss.

Consider the opposition and the seetting...it's a bad EMU team in an empty stadium. Score the TD to take the halftime lead and your probably going to take a good bit of the fight out of them.
I don't have a problem with going for the TD at all under those circumstances

you forgot to add...the coffee at the stadium sucked too!
Some of the good things from Friday night, team fights and overcomes mistakes. QB scrambles are open most anytime we want them - just whether you want the strating qb taking the risk of your leading rusher, and Defense standing tall when it mattered most.
Things I saw that I didn't like: intereference and personal foul penalties that allowed them to retain possession. And, finally, what the hell is one of our team leaders doing out on the visitors concourse at halftime??????
Get in the locker room, get yelled at with everyone else, and be a leader!

I was hoping we would go for it. The way our defense was playing I thought we needed to go into halftime with the lead.
