Buffalo- you have missed a lot of the angst and anger prior to GC's coming to BG and declaring that he wasn't going to mess with our colors. Paul Krebs was sneaking black in all over the place and really not caring about the alumni feelings- or anyone's feelings on the subject.
we have been rejoicing over the Men's Basketball team's brown unis. Many of us had the Brown football unis when we were students at BGSU. Brown is BGSU and very few other places. We like being special. You treaded into shark infested waters unknown. So don't take it personally.
The funny thing is you called Bleeding Orange a communist. that is what HE calls everyone else.
We love our BROWN and Orange - maybe it should be in the rules! Glad to have you around.

Thanks Always a Falcon... your title says it all for me! I thought we lived in a free country with 1st amendment rights (that we had) and it appears as if the opnion like I have for the team I LOVE has just angered too many people. You know what...that's good though, because that shows that we do have fans that are passionate about our FALCONS! I hear members scream about our play calling as well! Does that mean they should be shunned?
The Jersey color doesn't keep me from contributing tot he school, or going to a game! ALL THE WAY FROM COLORADO, I might add! It's a darn opinion and I thought I'd have fun with it, but I thought BG fans were a family! Seems like we may need some family counselling...

I don't believe Paul was "sneaking" black in all over the place as you claim. He did not really give a directive about colors on uniforms as the current AD has done. As a rule, orange and brown are one of the most expensive color combinations to purchase. So, to save money in each sports budget for things like travel and equipment, some sports went with a black and orange color combination. Paul was brought in to erase a 4 million dollar deficit and he did just that. If he didn't do his job, Greg Christopher would have a much harder go of it.

True- Paul Krebs did a great financial job with our athletic dept
True- he set the tone for things that are able to happen now.
True- he didn't give a hoot about brown--he thought black was more modern and "meaner" and would get us more recruits. And "save money"
True- he could have put out the word for alums to give more for BROWN and I bet the money would have shown up. But I was told when asked to "get ready for more black".
gosh I 'm not bitter am I?

I LOVE the brown unis.
But, as I've said on here before, I'd like to see us update our brown jerseys to look something like our new away jerseys. I really do think it looks sort of bad to have 3 different jerseys with 3 different designs/fonts.
I understand the "retro" look, however, in a time where our athletic department it trying to unify our look, I think it would be best to save the throwback look for special event games.
To sum up what I'm saying, I say keep the brown jerseys, but give them a more modern look.

I agree with you 100% on unification of fonts and looks. I would hope we can get to that in our athletic uniforms for all sports.

Listen man, if you go back and re-read my initial post, I wasn't accusing you of being any less of a fan than anyone else. I was simply trying to point out that you probably shouldn't react with such vitriol to a differing opinion, especially with such a touch subject. Questioning the aesthetic qualities of our current brown jerseys is fine and entirely expected. Everyone has their own taste, and not every design is going to be suitable to everyone. I guess what I was trying to get at is that when you start suggesting that black be involved in our uniform designs, you are going to be met with some resistance from a lot of people, and you should be expecting it. Based on your initial response, you were surprised by it, so I was just trying to make things a little clearer.
I'm very glad that you are here, and I'm very, very glad that you are such a dedicated Falcon. Enough said.

Wow, I never realized how much of a touchy subject unis were until I started tooling around here. Personally, I've never been a huge fan of our colors ( I know...call me a communist). Then again, I hate the Browns as well ( double commy whammie on me).
But seriously, we do have a unique color scheme, and we shouldn't "phase out" the brown. But, I think we can tone it down and go with more orange and white with a touch of brown. Just my drunken opinion. Who friggin cares? Let's go bowling!

I love the browns. I was one of the first to order a brown jersey from our friend RangerRocket. Got a chance to thank Pat in person on FRIDAY, nice guy.
Mirror the white jerseys and the browns would be even better.
The browns with this years white pants with thick BROWN stripe look sharp.

I love what the basketball team did with the Brown Uni's and I don't see why the football team can't get something similar. Maybe they'll be debuted in the Bowl Game, probably not though.
There NEEDS to be some orange on our home jersey's. What they are wearing looks very plain and kind of boring. I do understand the throwback statement being made, but this is 2007 and we're trying to make BG a brand so it's time to add some orange to the home jerseys. and the font needs to be fixed too...I like the idea of "Browning" the away jerseys.

The hockey team had black in their unis the last few years too....and we are VERY happy to have BROWN back in the uniforms this year!!!!! I really hated the black in them!!!! The hockey team also has BROWN helmets with Orange in them....WOOOO-HOOOOOO!!!! While I truly love the ORANGE uniforms on any of our teams, I will take BROWN over black any day!! .....now if we can just get GC to like the LT Falcon head....oh, wait, that's a different ten page discussion.....
