Looks like BG has pretty much locked up the GMAC Bowl (unless Miami wins) and will pay either Central Florida or ECU. I hope a large group comes down. With the game on a Sunday, Saturday afternoon in Mobile is awesome. Pep-rallies, Mardi Gras parade, fireworks, etc. I'll be posting as much info as I can and will answer every question that you may have regarding Mobile and the Gulf Coast. As soon as you get the invite, I would book rooms ASAP. Here are some great hotels downtown and some right off the interstate.

Brand new awesome hotel right on the parade route: Book fast!

Awesome bar at the top and on parade route:

If you really want to make a vacation, try these:

Please pass this on to all BG families, alums, friends, students, etc.

Also for Greek students:

You can call your chapter for a free place to stay. Most have on campus houses and I'm sure they wouldn't mind. This is a great way to save money and enjoy Mobile with some local students.

Hope this helps with hotels. I don't want to get any one's hopes up, but it does look like y'all will get the GMAC bid. I'll check back often

Also, I have NO affiliation with any hotels, bars, restaurants, etc. I just want y'all to have a great time in Mobile. I'll book a bar on Dauphin Street for your fans as well. Ask the Ohio fans about this bar. I did it for them and they all had a great time

Where do you see that we've "locked" this up?

The GMAC sounds amazing, but I really doubt I'd be able to go, unless I wanted to make the crazy drive back that night and potentially miss class anyway. :?

"locked up"... if this happens:

Miami loses to CMU in Championship game.
CMU goes to Motor City (sure bet)
Miami falls to 6-7 and is out
Ball State (I wouldn't expect them to travel well to Mobile) goes to Canada
BG goes to Mobile.
Ohio possibly goes to a bowl with a 6-6 record, but highly doubtful.

Thanks for the info! I plan on getting down there this year if BG gets a bid. I had to miss the 04 game and don't want that to happen again. I've noticed it is much cheaper to fly into Pensacola and drive over than flying into Mobile.

GO BG!~

I hope it is the GMAC as well. I wouldn't be able to make it down because of classes being the next day, but I think the C-USA/MAC matchups are always exciting to watch and usually put up some big numbers on the scoreboard.

Mobile Airport rates are usually pretty high. Try Pensacola (45 minutes away), Gulfport, MS (45 minutes) or New Orleans (2 hours 15 minutes)

I found a flight from Cols to Gulfport for 150 bucks. Figure in another 100 to hire a car (which could be split if we have a couple guys). I might have to think about this one.

Now this is the second reference to missing classes and I applaud you on your commitment to your education, but c'mon, don't college kids skip classes anymore?? This is as good a reason as any to skip a class or two. It's a lot better than any reason I had when I was at BG, like the series finale of Seinfeld, dollar beers at MT Mugs, or Fridays, for that matter!

Well, you'd be skipping the first day of classes of the semester, in which you would then be automatically dropped from any class with a first day attendance policy (which would include the class that I teach).

It's the first day of the new semester and some professors require you to attend. I happen to have one of those professors and don't feel like getting on their bad side after one day, LOL. Oh, and uh yeah, my education is important to me.

Well then, you should change your name to teacherguy and not footballguy. :D
