Best Part of GMAC Bid
Best Part of GMAC Bid
I may be wrong about this, but I think they best part of getting the GMAC bid is the extra 5 weeks of practice this group will get together. With the youth of this team, I believe that these extra weeks will mean something come next season. But enough about next season, I WANT A BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

I believe they get an additional 15 practices. They can stretch that out over five weeks if they want to, but it is just 15 practices.
They were allowed to practice up until the MACC without those practices counting toward the 15.
I'm pretty certain that someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

What are some of the hidden advantages to making a bowl game?
"It can really be a catch-22 because if you make a bowl game, you essentially get another spring football. Making a bowl game really helped us my first two years here - to be able to sustain the program. Teams that are struggling to get over that hump need those extra practices. We have teams out there that have been getting these extra practices for 20 years or so and those are the teams that are going to continue to be good because they get extra practice."

Don't think that's right...I recall Gregg Brandon talking about FIFTEEN extra practices between now and the bowl game.... It's going to be tougher, quite honestly, to determine HOW those practices will be divvied up since the time difference beteen the OLD GMAC bowl and the NEW one is quite different...factman wrote:I was told by a VERY reliable source that there are UNLIMITED practices prior to the bowl, and NO restrictions (i.e. two or three day) when school is not in session.

I've been toolin around on Tulsa's message board, and they've been speculating about this as well. 15 is the magic number they've been kicking around as well.Class of 61 wrote:Don't think that's right...I recall Gregg Brandon talking about FIFTEEN extra practices between now and the bowl game....
