Whats with the GMAC bowl?

I'm just wondering. Did not the GMAC bowl get played way, way earlier in the bowl season before this year? I could swear it was the first or second played each of the last few years. Now it will be next to last?
I guess I'll be muting the BCS commercial and picking up the student station broadcasts on the internet.

I believe last year was the first time they moved the GMAC Bowl to January...it used to one of the first bowls every year.
I like it in Jan...we can watch all the other bowls and lead up to ours.

I was overly anxious to see this game, so i guess i'll have to think less about it to make it to Jan. 6th.

When we were there a few yrs ago, it was played on Dec. 23rd, if I recall correctly...we were to fly home in time for Christmas Eve...N.Orleans ran out of de-icer for planes and flights were canceled, so we didn't get home until NINE PM on CHRISTMAS DAY! Didn't make too many members of our families happy, but we had fun for the extra day in N.Orleans.

61, just be glad you didn't drive home from Mobile. I lived in Indy and was going to Chicago for the holidays. We left Mobile at 6 AM on the 23rd, the game was on the 22nd, and I got to Chicago at about 6 PM on Christmas Eve. It was like the worst winter storm to ever hit northern KY and southern IN. I spent the night in Louisville after it took me about 8 hours to go 5 miles. It was an awful trip and gave me a bad memory of a great trip and great victory.

While the lateness of the game is nice, the game will quickly turn into one big promotion for tOSU vs. LSU as well as a BCS bash-fest.

At least I won't be home to watch all that crap on TV!
