Can someone provide, or direct me to, a fairly accurate BGSU depth chart for season?

Of the 49 players on listed on that depth chart, we lose 8, including six starters. That doesn't include the kicker or punter, who both will be back.

And why is the media saying Buffalo is the team to beat in 2008?

I know it has been said before, but man.......are we looking good for next year AND a few after. 3 on the O-line and O'drobs and Loren. Other than that......MACC X 2 (at least :D )!!!!!!!!!

Per Rivals we had a visit from a *** JUCO OT last week. The kid's last name is Staudt and he's rated **** by Scout.

Giggity..

I have always wondered why we dont get more guys like this. Ransom and the kickers are the perfect example of how a Juco can come into a team with a strong infrastructure and contribute right away.

Great news.

Flipper,

yes we did have a visit from a juco ot last weekend. I met him at the hockey game against wayne state. He is from a juco in Iowa and was being escorted around by Jeff Fink. This guy had a pretty big frame...

JUCOs have their place and, as your examples show, BG has used them to good effect. But you build your program with four- (and five-) year recruits. Ruben Ruiz came here as a JUCO and did so-so; Temple used A LOT of JUCOs in the waning years of the Wallace Era.

Exactly. JUCOs are great when you absolutely have to bring some leadership into a position. A coach would always rather bring in a guy you could have for 4 (sometimes 5?) years. JUCO's are usually 2 and done.

Agreed Drew, you need to recruit good high-schoolers to have a consistently good program. Jucos are mostly stopgap players and secondary options IMO. However, in this case, a lot of our key players are going to be juniors and seniors next year. The offensive line is a potential weak point with Lichtensteiger, Nystrom, and one other guy leaving. A good, solid JUCO to play C or LT might really bring some stability and some leadership to a young position on the field. We all know that if the OL plays well next year, we're gonna score a TON of points, so I think the move is definitely worth it.

I'd like to see us bring in a JUCO or 2 on the D-Line if at all possible, that's probably the biggest weakness on the team, other than maybe the secondary.
