Omar and the Heisman?

At the media lunch today, a rep from the Associated Press was in attendance. Before the coaches came in, someone asked him what he was doing there and his reply was quite interesting. He said he was here on business from New York. The only thing I can think of for college football that deals with New York is the Heisman. Maybe the media and others are finally starting to recognize Omar or then again maybe I'm completely wrong!

Or it could possibly be someone sent from the AP in an all-out effort to remove their heads from their own asses. 4 votes? 4 G-- damn votes? Thats all we got?

Shame on the AP...

But seriously, they should be looking at Omar for the Heisman. In my opinion, part of Heisman votion should be based on overcoming adversity and performing among the best in the nation as a youngster. It happened to Fitzgerald last year, even though that 40-year old-turned quarterback White took it...

Who knows? I've seen stranger things happen!

I don't know how old Jason White is, but he's got his eligibility available, and if you don't think what he went through was adversity, I'd like to show ya a dictionary!!! *laugh*

(Though I just remembered about Fitzgerald having one (or was it both?) of his parents pass away a little bit before the season... that's some adversity too, of a different kind.)

That really wasn't meant to be a dig against Jason White's abilities (God knows I'm pulling for the kid after my trip to Norman this year). I was simply trying to sarcastically comment on the fact that I was struck at how old he looks with his thinning hair and chiseled face after watching the OU game this past weekend.

Really, the White probably deserved the Heisman after last year, but I'm not sure that some younger kids last year didn't get at least partially overlooked simply because of their youth.

You know, voters could make up for this by voting for a certain sophomore quarterback this year from.......BOWLING GREEN?!?! :(

Omar does not deserve the Heisman until he leads us to victories over teams like NIU.

It is nearly impossible to win the Heisman on a 2 loss team. Even moreso on a 2 loss team from the MAC. If Omar continues to play well in the coming years and they put together a nearly undefeated season then we can talk heisman. Until that time its just dreaming.
