That's how long mapquest says it takes to get to Mobile from Bowling Green. I've been on many long drives before, but 14 hours on a bus?! Damn that's a long time. Hopefully nobody takes a dump in the bus lavatory until we get at least to Tennessee.

Any other students on here going on the Student Spirit Trip through the university?

I would imagine that most of you graduated guys (and gals) going to this game are going via air as opposed to land.

13 hrs and 54 min map quest equates to more like 15hrs 30 min bus time. Heck you wont even notice the extra 2 hours, you'll be thinking about the game.

My daughter broke her leg in two places , got put in a boot and twelve hours later hopped on a bus and rode thirty hours back from Colorado this summer. Man up!- you're going to a Bowl Game, fer Gosh sakes.

A couple friends of mine were in the FMB at the time of the last GMAC Bowl....they said with the snow they encoutered it approached being a 30 hour trip...so hope for some good weather, I suppose...

Bring a flask and the time will go quick.

For the last bowl I flew down and was not able to get a flight back because of all the snow, so I rented an SUV and drove all the way back. My wife would have killed me if I missed Christmas. It was a beautiful drive until I hit Cincy. The worst road conditions ever, from Cincy to Mansfield. the closer I got to Cleveland, the better the roads. 14 seems about right.

LOL! I hope some shows up on the bus with a couple of White Castle Crave Cases and a couple bags of 7-Layer Burritos from Taco Bell!

Actually, this storm that is coming this weekend is very similar to the storm that hit in '04 which brought so much rain to Mobile. That was probably a worst case scenario in terms of traveling home from the game. Just be thankful the game isn't this weekend!

For as long as the trip is / may be, you might just want to bring the whole damn bottle.

Me and 2 friends are making the trip by car, and that's going to be rough. I can't even imagine how bad a bus trip would be. When's the bus leaving? We're planning on heading out about midnight Friday night and driving through the night then napping at the hotel.

We drove it the last time and it was a piece of cake, other than the ice ruts on I-65 between Nashville and Louisville coming home. It is not a bad drive at all.

IN '04 I drove BG-Mobile in 12.5 hours by myself, not a bad drive at all. Definitely goes by quickly when you are anticipating the game!!

Coming home, as pointed out, was a different story.

Well, for those of you who care, your best bet in this dept. would be to take Amtrak out of Cleveland, Sandusky, Toledo, or Bryan, and head west towards Chicago on the Capitol Limited or the Lakeshore Limited. Here, you would hop on the southbound "City of New Orleans," to it's namesake city. From there, you're on your own. You won't save any time, as opposed to driving, but a heck of a lot LESS stress, better scenery, a lot of fun, and the opportunity to get work done/read/socialize/eat/go to the restroom while still moving forward.

Yeah, I was with the FMB on that trip, and the return trip SUCKED. You know what makes it worse? When you're driving home from BG-Chicagoland the following day, and then you slide out and get into an accident on I-80 in Northern Indiana on Christmas Eve. This is followed by hours of limping home in a gimpy car, with the parents following to make sure the car doesn't die. SUCK.
