Funny -- you mention the Houston win as quality and we beat them by 49.

Our offense is going to score.

If you want to talk overall team ability, then I'll give that to you. Our d and special teams are weak. But the offense is kind of a big deal.

We were running a high powered spread offense under Urban Meyer in 2001 and 2002 while Tulsa went a comined 2-21 during those two years.

The M.A.C. isn't a "little Big Ten" anymore as our defense has played against similar offenses, we won't be starry eyed when you throw a ton and spread out the field to run.

Paul Smith's TD/INT ratio and yards are nice but they aren't 2004 GMAC Bowl MVP Omar Jacob's 41-4.

Our defense plays against one of the best offenses in the nation every day in practice.

I think we all should be concerned about Tulsa's offense. Their offensive production is very impressive.

Not that I'm projecting a BG win, but there is one stat that draws my attention. Tulsa has D-IA's best offense...statistically, as I understand. However, their average margin of victory is just over 4 points.

The CUSA offensive stats are off the charts. Their offensive stats are higher than any other conference I've seen.

Either their offenses are really just that good, or their defenses are really just that bad. Maybe it is a little of both.

I am concered about Tulsa's offense. They will score. Probably a lot.

However, I'm tempted to think that CUSA defenses are bad on a level that the MAC does not parallel. Not that our defenses are at all good. I just hope that our defense can slow Tulsa down enough to allow our offense to do their jobs.

One thing is probably true: the analysts say it will be a high scoring game. The GMAC usually is, and this will probably be no exception.

Bring 'em on. You saw tonight with Hawaii what happens when you're offense is one-dimensional. Tulsa has a running game, but their main threat is passing. Obviously, we don't have the talent Georgia has on defense, but it can serve as some sort of crystal ball of what happens when you scheme and plan well against a high-powered offense.

I think we have a good chance to win this game, but to dismiss Tulsa's offense is dangerous. It's not like their offense has been good - it's the top offense in the country.

It doesn't help that we'll be missing our leading tackler (Haneline) and our best pass rusher (Briggs). We're putting a WR with a bad hand in the defensive backfield, which makes me wonder if our academic casualities came from that part of the roster.

Turnovers and Red Zone. Both teams should move the ball at will.

Actually a bunch of guys dismissing Tulsa's offense on a sports bulletin board poses no threat whatsoever to BG's chances in this game.

Good point. Perhaps foolish would have been a better choice of words.

Tulsa can move the ball and score points...you cannot debate that. I feel our D has improved thru the year and was playing it's best at the end of the year...which is good. Briggs missing the game sux and hopefully Hardwick and Schaefer are healed and ready. They can still cause trouble in Tulsa's backfield. And Magnone has gotten solid reps this season as well...

One way to help our D is the O controlling the tempo of the game. We need to run the ball effectively so our D isn't out there too often.

This should be one of the best games of the bowl season.

I didn't know that what happened in '01 or '02 would matter now. Our OC was still coaching high school then.

I think it'll be a good game. We had some injuries to important guys that will be near full strength for Sunday. Should be fun. One guy I'm really exited about is Charles Clay. He's close to 1,000 yards receiving, but is also a good ball carrier. He had a stress fracture and didn't get that many carries down the stretch.

Yes, even if we had all of our starters.

It matters because our staff has been exposed to your style of offense while your OC was writing passes to get 16 and 17 year olds out of detention Our staff is experienced in defending this style of offense and yes the numbers are very impressive but not in a ratio or style that is completely alien to us.

Tulsa has a good reason to be worried too.

According to my research, the MAC has beat C-USA 5 out of the 6 years that these conferences have met in this game.
