I know that there's a few people on here (or more than a few...) that think we should have a "zero tolerance" policy re disciplinary issues, but after reading this story, I'm more convinced than ever that a case by case approach with a chance for redemption is the way to go.

I think that philosophy is at least a part of the "family" vibe that so many of our players hvae cited when they sign here.

I was 20 once....I needed more than a 2nd chance. I think the "family" vibe is what sets BGSU apart from anyone else. Both in the program and in the BGSU community. People care and want to see others succeed.

Second chances are good- God knows I've had plenty. Of course I wasted them, but still.... Irony is good, too. ;-)

I have been one to speak vociferously that when players misbehave they should be punished, but also given a second chance. The punishment just needs to fit the crime or in some cases the poor judgement. I remember the end of the Blackney days and the player behavior was atrocious. I never want to see BG represented by thugs. This article helps identify the positive and apparently working approach of Brandon is currently using.
