It is our defense's job to stop them, but what is the point of throwing the ball with the starting QB when your up by 49?

He's going after some statistical milestones/records.

He needed 300 yards to break the NCAA record for most consecutive games with 300 yards. We also wanted to get clay 1000 yards on the season. On top of that it is his last game of his college career and his pro prospects are not that hot - this may be the last game he plays. Pretty sure the coach feels he has earned the right to call himself out of the game when he so choses.

He's a great talent and certainly has the players around to make him excel.
It was our job to stop him, and besides the 1st quarter where the defense played very well, that wasn't accomplished.

At least he hustled out to shake hands at midfield afterwards... or at least meandered somewhat briskly.
