...if you're looking for something to gripe about...

How about ESPN giving the BG fans (excluding the band, who are awesome) so little airtime while we got to see up the nose of every single OSU fan in the stadium?

Okay, fine, there weren't many excuses to cheer, but that doesn't mean we weren't! Speaking for the student spirit trip kids who each paid $200 and made the 900 mile trip on a travel bus, and missed the first day of classes today, we were standing, cheering, and supporting our team throughout the entire game. And ESPN chooses to show every frigging OSU fan in the place as opposed to the fans there to support the game that was actually OCCURRING AT THE TIME. What a load of you-know-what.

On a more positive note, it was great to see all the orange & brown in Mobile. We all managed to have an incredible time! :o)

Unfortunately, less-talked about bowl games like the GMAC usually turn into PSA's for the BCS games. It sucks, but it's not really a suprise anymore coming from ESPN. I didn't have too many gripes with them showing OSU fans on camera, considering we made a play to have them buy some of our ticket alotment to the game and support us.

For any OSU fans not affiliated with BG that bought tickets to the game to support us on their way to New Orleans, I really appreciate that, it's a heck of a gesture. But for hearing so much about us struggling to sell tickets, I was very impressed with all the orange I saw on TV. I couldn't really tell how big our numbers were, but the BG contigent looked great in any event. Of course like any self respecting BG fan it drives me nuts when students put Ohio State above their alma mater, but I'm pretty thankful for any OSU people that supported us. I couldn't be there for the game as badly as I wanted to, so I was glad others not with BG (MobileBama included) took the initiative to help us. (Assuming most OSU fans weren't rooting for Tulsa.)

A bowl trip is a bowl trip anyway you cut it. This game was a nightmare, and a bit embarassing to get shelacked on national TV like that, but I don't think a postseason game is ever not worth it, no matter how it turns out. As several have said many times, at least we got the extra practice before next spring. That can only help, even if we weren't ready to go in this one.

GO BG!

I was actually surprised that they didn't talk about the title game more then they did, actually gave the other BCS bowls a talk. They did also show LSU fans there too, so it wasn't one sided.

Exactly. After that kickoff return for the TD, they showed plenty of BG fans. Then there was the rest of the game...

BTW, as a band alum, I've got no issue with oodles of band shots, thank you. :-)

The on field tv didn't seem to show much of the FMB in the second half. Every time I looked over there we were on in the first, but after half-time it seemed like the tv even gave up on us :(

Not too upset though. hopefully that first half exposure does some good old fashioned band recruiting.

fu**ing unbelievable! We get our ass handed to us 63-7 and you want to complain about how little airtime ESPN gave to the BG fan section? Hell, I wouldn’t want my face shown during that debacle. If you want to be mad about something now that you’re out $200 and traveled 900 miles, direct your anger at the coaching staff and players. That’s where you got cheated.

If OSU fans helped get us off the hook by buying some of our tickets they deserve a handshake, not a punch in the face.

Wow, these complaints/observations are totally misguided. Bowling Green just took the biggest beating in the history of bowl competition, and people are moaning about TV exposure ---- who got the most. Geez, who in the hell cares! You guys ought to be focused on the humiliation that your grand University experienced in this debacle. This is a big time "reputational" negative, egregious at best and it's going to impact the Univesity's athletic program for sometime to come. --- This football team was not prepared for this game and the buck stops with the coaching staff. These guys "big" money and they are expected to produce. They didn't.

The guy next to those girls should be having more fun than it looks like he is having.

I keep hearing that we were not prepared, and I just don't see it after watching the game again. Our coaching staff that called plays to generate opportunities, and the players did not capitalize on it. The Freddie Barnes fumble is a tough one to swallow. For those who say it was fumble, if he were catching that while going out of bounds, is it a completion? Three drives to the goal line and 0 points. Players need to execute down there and there were plenties of opportunities that they did not capitalize on for one reason or another. If they did you are looking at a completely different game and we would be singing a different tune.

Once we were down that bad at half time I knew the kids would pack it in. The refs did not help giving Tulsa the benefit of the doubt all night long. That fake field goal there was an obvious holding that was never called. The late hit was horrible, and the fact that they did even think twice about the helmet to helmet is rediculous.

With all of this said I do not believe BG would win anyways, but the game would have been a lot different. When a player fumbles it is not the coaches fault. The player could have had 2 a days and still fumbles a ball. If you want to get upset how BG plays in big games that is fine. Maybe we should look for a new coach, but do not say players were unprepared when they fumble a football and do not capitalize on opportunities when play calling creates them.
