Recruiting video of new QB commit Califoria Qb Andrew Beam-6'4 235lb.Found this during some google searching. Kid looks like he's got a huge arm and nice mobility to say the least for his supposed 4.7 40 time.

ur acting like 4.7 is slow, thats faster than harris or omar. when u run under 6 then you can talk about peoples speed.

FWIW, a 4.7 40 is fast, especially for a guy his size. Just for a point of reference, I seem to recall J5's 40 time to be estimated around 4.8. Boy was he slow.
Didn't someone with some inside knowedge of sprints and times post here awhile back saying that a 4.4 40 would be faster than alot of world class sprinters could run at a 40 split? Also, I think the point has been made many many times that 40 times are often exaggerated and a sub 4.5 40 isn't as common as you would be led to believe by reading recruiting sites and such.
Listed 40 times really don't mean a whole lot. Most other measurables don't mean all that much either. Your infatuation with them always amazes me. What would this guy have to say?

Falconboy, Please read YOUR comments on this kid under a prior thread called QB job-open (or similar)... Amazing how you can change horse in mid stream... the video that you "found" was on that thread (I referred to it also). And the kid who doesn't appear to be anything more than a "pocket passer" now shows nice mobility, right?

Well if he is reporting a 4.7 40 couldn't that be exageratted too? If everyone is exagerrating maybe this kid runs a 5.1?
Agility and accelleration mean much more for a QB then a 40 time. If our QB is runninf 40 yards often we have problems. I am not sure if they do the cone drill but for anyone outside of a DB or WR 40 time is nearly pointless.

Yes. They sure could, which was one of my two points in that post. Listed 40 times don't mean much. The other being falconboy's infatuation with them and big beefy men.

Glad to see we have Andrew. This is a good recruiting move. It is not recruiting "over" incoming frosh A Pankratz/Nordonia as he committed with a rising junior ahead of him not named Sheehan- Glaud. Andrew fits that spot in Glaud's place. Pankratz can get ready for the future in a redshirt year.
Beyond the video, size etc, sources tell me Andrew Beam is a fine young man, great leader and a good student. Additionally, he already has insight into the BG program as former teammate Jermiah Kelley had a pretty good first year with the Falcons. Beam completed passes to JKelley in 2006 at their JC.
Go Falcons!

That was me and yes- football 40s are a joke. Too lazy to find the link again but several NFL guys "beat" the 40 time that a steroid fueled Ben Johnson ran for the first 40 of his world record 100 meters. Johnson, a trained sprinter using starting blocks, had a time comparable to many of the kids you see coming out of high school.
A true 4.7 would be pretty snappy.

I shall post absolutely nothing here, just because I hate seeing the word rocket on the main forum page, even if it is prefaced by H2Oville
I must add, waterville, while it is not that bad of a town, really seems much more like a crossroads than an actual town.

Hence the "ville" suffix, although we have officailly been a city (4,000+ population) for several years now. Evryone knows that there are two Watervilles- the cool one, downtown where the river, historic homes and creative people are and the yuppy hell up on the hill. Guess where I live?

Wanted to mention that Andrew's brother Jim dropped by the house tonight after dinner. We've had a nice mellow evening so far.
