I can't believe UT find a way to beat the vaunted NIU rushing attack ,and at NIU's place!!

With there very young defensive line I thought for sure NIU should roll over them easily. This makes our loss to them hurt even more. UT's D is suppused to be porous, what the heck!! On a side note, Garret Wolf did not play due to a punch in the eye he got for breaking up a fight.

Very interesting.

If we played O like we have all year, with our without Wolfe, we would have won. We were 21 points under our average on O, and we've scored points with relative ease all year long. Our senior QB wasn't very good, and UT took advantage of that by stacking the line and stuffing the run. We played lousy, and UT played pretty well.
13-19 on third downs and 42 minutes of TOP really help your cause.

Wait a minute Dan! I thought it was silly to think we could beat NIU now? Matter of fact, I though you were just looking down your nose at us last week. What's up?

Wait didn't the play action pass work against UT's secondary? Gosh , it seems to burn us every time. What is UT's secondary better than ours, if it is yikes!!

I really thought there was no way that UT beats NIU the way they manhandled us.

Especially at NIU.

The point was never that we are better than you. The point of your argument was irrelevant, as NIU and BG would not play again. And UT's win over us does not mean that you would beat us today -that's an extrapolation with only one criteria, and it simply isn't valid.
I know that BG and NIU playing any day would be a good game. UT and NIU should have been a better game, but I just don't think our team reacted to adversity very well, and I think a lot of that had to do with the loss of Wolfe - not that having him on the field would have been the difference, but I saw a panic in our team when things didn't go our way, I really thought the being let down by Wolfe's mistake started to weigh on them as things went against us. Heck, we could have been up 10 to start the second half but missed a wide open bomb on the first play.
The point was never that BG isn't as good as NIU. The point is that your comments about BG playing better than NIU right now is irrelevant. I do hope you're right, though, because if we beat EMU and you win @ UT, we go to the title game!
BTW - congrats on dominating the Herd like I had hoped. I just wish you would have run up the score!

The difference is that our run wasn't working in the second half, while it worked very well in our game against BG. It's tough to defend that team when you're trying so hard (usually in vain) to stop the run.
UT's worked on us so well because we struggled to stop their running game. It's a great play action play because all the action goes one way and you go the exact opposite way.
BTW - NIU shoudl have been up 10 at the beginning of the second half off that exact same play action bootleg. Haldi didn't take the easy TE for 5+ yards, he held on to it a little longer and had Sheldon wide open on the bomb and overthrew it.
