Andrew Beam info

I have watched Andrew Beam a lot over the past three years. Bowling Green has got quite a sleeper of a QB in my mind.

Beam had some DI interest out of high school, but not a ton of attention, because his team beat people up on the ground. He averaged around 7 throws per game. It also didn't help that he is from the very very small cow town of Escalon.

As a freshman at Delta, Beam went 2-8, but had no help up front and maybe the worst set of running backs in recent school history. Even then, Beam kept Delta in a lot of close games.

This year, he got more help and carved the Valley Conference up! He was the first Delta QB to go over 2,000 yards in a season since Steve Wichman did it and moved on to start at Idaho.

Here's what you get: A smart, accurate passer (66% completions) who is big and has a strong arm. He can run the no huddle and can go deep. He'll stand in the pocket, but knows how to escape. His interceptions went up this year, because he can get over confident at times. He took more risks this year, because his top receivers weren't very fast, but they were big and had great hands. He threw 5 interceptions in a game this year, but it was on the windiest day of the season, no joke!

His biggest knock for a long time has been mobility at 6'4 and close to 240 lbs. However, his biggest improvement over the last year has been running. He is very tough to bring down when he gets in the open. He improved his elusiveness so much, that coach designed specific run plays for Andrew that saved Delta's bacon numerous times.

I said he was a steal for Delta out of high school and I was right. I think he could be a steal for you guys. However I'm bias

Two of my Delta boys at the same school next year, I'm going to have to represent and get some orange gear...or plan my first trip to Ohio next fall.

And while I don't make it up to every game, I can guarantee that when you show up to Ohio with that orange gear on, you'll have a beer waiting for you!

Thanks for the report!

Thanks for the info...if Andrew pans out as well as Jermiah Kelley did we'll be very happy indeed. Having some experience playing on windy days will serve him well at BGSU

I too have had the chance to watch Andrew grow as a young man on and off the field. He is a true gentleman, with great athletic ability. After watching video on BG prior to his commitment, I truly believe that he will make BG fans proud and fit into their offensive plans perfectly!
I’ll say it first, he will “NEVER” embarrasses your university with off field stunts, grade problems, or issues with other players.
He has always said: Give me the opportunity to compete for the job, and let the chips fall where they may. You won’t find him hanging his head or bad mouthing his competitors. He will only work hard on and off the field to help BG become a better football team.
I promise you that!
If he does win a starting job, the California boys will be making their way east. We’ll be looking forward to the tailgating and BG hospitality that I’ve been reading about!
I can’t wait for August!
:D

Here are links to Beam's stats while at Delta. And I incorrect in my above post. His freshman year Delta went 4-6. 2-8 was the year before.

Great info guys. There is definitely starting to be a lot of buzz about this kid and I am really excited to see him play. I think he might be able to run a version of the spread that our coaches seem to refuse to run with our current QB. I hope everything works out for the best and welcome aboard as new Falcon fans!!! :D (Man does it feel good to say that!)

Deltaguru and Tiger Tracks,

Thanks for the info and insight! If you make your way over to BG next season, not only will there be cold beer waiting for you but the best grilled stadium brats with stadium mustard! And hammb's deep fried Oreos and pizza rolls...maybe some perch as well.

I am excited to see Beam play and battle Tyler for the starting gig. Nothing wrong with having two capable QB's ready to go.

GO FALCONS!!! 206 days til the Pitt Panthers go down!

Little doubt that if ya'll come out to a BG game you'll eat well, drink well, and have a good time. We're pretty hospitable people, even to the Rocket fans among us.
