Tanski did not receive any scholarship offers, but will walk-on at BG.

Question, this is the third recruit that I have seen say they are going to study Engineering. When did BG start an engineering program? :?

So we're recruiting three QBs this year? Gee whiz, I've never seen that before. Gotta wonder though, at his size, are the coaches thinking of him as a QB or as another guy in the Freddie Barnes model. Either way, we got Mr. Football!

Excellent news. This confirms BG is a pretty attractive destination for quarterbacks, scholarship or no scholarship.

To keep things rolling, here's a great new story on incoming recruit DeMark Jenkins:

College of Technology - Design Technology may be the engineering they are referring to particularly the Mechanical Design side of the program. Not exactly Engineering but a related field.

Thanks for the link. Nice article on Jenkins. It is always nice to see BCS conferences schools interested in kids that end up coming to BG.

Joe,
Excellent read on Jenkins! Man, that gave me goosebumps reading about him. This is simply awesome to read...

There was no temptation when Purdue came calling. Or Illinois. Or even Nebraska.
West Side senior DeMark Jenkins had committed to Bowling Green, and he was going to stay committed to Bowling Green -- no matter who started recruiting him after his Dec. 8 decision.

"I wasn't going to decommit," Jenkins said. "No way."

I LOVE that. And that fact he wants to play baseball as well is great...fastball in the low 90's. :D This is where BG and other mid majors have a huge advantage over the BCS boys. They don't want these kids playing anything else but one sport. Heck if the kid wants to play both and can do it, let him! BG baseball is important, too!

I figured it had something to do with the Technology Dept. But to say these guys are coming to BG to study Engineering still seems like a bit of false adverstising to me.

Didnt we not offer Opelt because he wanted to play baseball too?

I love the fact that we are finally getting highly recruited athletes now over schools in the Big-10 or SEC or Big-12. Hopefully they can produce on the field for us. Whether they are in the position they were in in high school or a different position, hopefully they produce well enough for us to grab that ever elusive MAC Championship Title.

We offered Opelt in baseball, but not football.

Actually, I think it could be 4. Beam, although he will be a junior, Morgan, although he will probably end up a DB but did play QB in high school, Pankratz and Tanski. Guess that makes it harder to believe that Tanski would want to come to BG given all the competition there will be at QB. But good luck to all! One of them has got to pan out, right?

Pretty sure Morgan has been recruited to play safety. I'm sure Dr Reality and H20 will agree that Tanki's posted time of 4.9 is waaaaaay too slow for him to be much use anywhere on the field. :-)

Tanski / Mentor "connection"

Part of the thing with Tanski choosing BG MAY have to do with the fact that BG and Mentor HS have had a looong connection through the years. Steve Trivisonno, Mentor's coach, is a BG grad, and it wasn't TOO long ago that we had a couple of OL from Mentor. (anyone remember Andrew Hart?)
I know that Tanski also played safety at Mentor...so there's an outside possibility that he might find a place there....but the last Mentor QB we tried at safety (name escapes me now) didn't stay on the team...and maybe not even in school.
