So I went to the practice and had to leave early in the scrimmage, but I was impressed with what I saw for the most part. I only saw the first team offense drive for a while and then the second team offense for a bit. The first team really moved nicely for a little bit. The first play of the scrimmage was a thirty plus yard pass put right a bit ahead of the receiver, don't remember who. He just about had it but dropped it as he hit the ground. They moved consistently for a while, but around the other 20 the defense stopped them on fourth down. Impressive for the D there, but not so much earlier in the drive, as Willie Geter had a wide open run through the middle, no D linemen or linebackers in sight. Second team offense looked OK, but Nate Brown badly overthrew a receiver at one point.

Other notes and observations:
AT was playing some as FB and TE, so we may have found yet another use for AT - filling in for Winovich.

Chris Bullock was hardly seen. He was blocking for punts, though.

Tyrone Pronty can block FG attempts? He got his hands on two of them.

It looks like punt return may be up for grabs, probably so Corey doesn't get hurt again. Corey Partridge, Willie Geter, Adrian Hodges, and Antonio Smith were all practicing.

Adrian Hodges and Ray Hutson both will be something special for us. They both have good size and looked impressive in practice.

Who is #58? He impressed me a whole lot at LB. He hit hard and even got his paws on a Sheehan pass.

I introduced myself to coach Brandon at Campus Polleye's after the game.

Mrs. Brandon's immediate reaction? "You're not hammb are you?" LOL

All in good fun, he was more than cordial, especially considering I was interrupting their dinner. I just couldn't sit next to him and not introduce myself.

He said they had some things to work on, but he was happy with the 80 plays they ran this evening.

#58 is Jacob Hardwick - redshirt junior. Was he really lined up at LB? If so, that might be the kind of size that falconboy would like to see at LB.

You should have extended an invitation to the tailgate lot before the spring game or this fall.

I don't know Coach Brandon, but it would not have surprised me if he sarcastically offered you a job after you identified yourself.

Must've been someone else. I don't think GB would be lining Hardwick up at LB , it would go against everything he believes in apparenatly and it would be a dumb move IMO. Hardwick is our biggest DE I think and should stay put.

I think there's a reason he is coaching and you're not.

According to bgsufalcons.com, Hardwick is #93 ... so I guess 58 is someone else. Anyway, he impressed me most out of all the linebackers.

Must've been a number change then. I just knew Hardwick would not be lined up at LB.

According to the Sentinel Tribune, Bullock was the leading rusher.

Well, like I said, I left early. I guess he must have found better use later in the game. Good ... he's a good power guy and I really felt he was under-utilized last year. He had one bad game against Miami, but every other game he really played well, even in limited action. I'm hoping to see good work out of him this year like in his freshman season.

Per the Sentinel, Champ Fells (love that name) was the leading tackler.

It'd be huge if he can stay healthy and contribute this year. I think he lead the entire stat of Florida in tackles one year when he was in high school.

Jimmy Schiedler had a couple of catches....looks like that FB/TE hybrid spot may get a little more action this yer..
