NFL Draft: Mac Defensive Players

Post by Falconboy »

Something struck me as I was looking at the latest Draft Cast from ESPN. The Mac has 2 CB's drafted in the 4th Rnd. One from Kent and one from Akron. Seeing as how it is hardest to get NFL worthy talent on defense these days for Mac schools how is that Kent and Akron both have corners taken this early?

The two I'm referring to are Kent's Jack Williams and Akron's Reggie Corner. Neither of them are big at all , both are 5'9 about 180 but have stated 40's in the low 4.4's. Have BG's corners in recent memory have all been that slow to not have gotten a sniff or did Kent and Akron just get lucky in getting corners who possess the apparent speed and quickness to play at the next level and get drafted in the middle rounds? I've been noticing this every draft year or so , several other Mac teams will have NFL caliber players on defense but we never seem to ever. Just an observation.

The NFL Draft never makes any sense to me, but part of that could be that I'm such a bigger fan of college football in general. My biggest question stemming from the MAC is how did Jabari Arthur not get picked?
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Falconboy,
Just for your info (and usual lack of knowledge), Reggie Corner originally came to BGSU... transferred to Akron...why? I don't honestly know...I've heard everything from grade problems to lack of playing time etc. So "we never seem to ever" is NOT a particularly accurate observation.

Den,

Kills me that Corner was here and transferred....and then has a very good career with Akron. I remember being quite jacked up he chose BG out of Canton McKinley.

Oh well...
