Although, there's no talk of the MAC in the Congressional Bowl from this article:

Great point. How the hell is the Big East even considered a "BCS" conference anymore? Wasn't Temple a Big East football school at one point? And, the Big East was stronger a few years ago (from top to bottom)then it is now. What a joke.BGFalconfromCincy wrote:It is insane that a eight team league in the Big East has seven bowl tie-ins

Well ... maybe.BGFalconfromCincy wrote:It is insane that a eight team league in the Big East has seven bowl tie-ins
But, mathematically, I wonder if it might work out. Each Big Least team has seven conference games and five OOC games. So, in theory, a Big Least team could sweep their OOC games, go 2-5 in conference games and qualify for a bowl.
Looking at last year's Big Least standings, only one team had less than two conference wins.
The trickle down effect is that Big Least teams are now, more than ever, going to have to REALLY pad their OOC schedules with cupcakes.

And the award for most uses of either Big Least or Big Elevten in one post goes to...1987alum wrote:Well ... maybe.BGFalconfromCincy wrote:It is insane that a eight team league in the Big East has seven bowl tie-ins

I guess this is part of the reason that I tend to discount Brandon's success when people base it on the fact he has taken us to three bowl games. Given the current state and number of bowls, it is practically to the point where you should be fired if you DON'T go to a bowl.hammb wrote:Too damn many bowl games. Period.
Mediocrity should not be rewarded, but it will be as they continue to add bowl games. Soon they'll get rid of the idea of "bowl eligibility" altogether so they can add some more games.

During the time BG went to their first two bowl game wins under Brandon, the MAC had only two tie ins.Warthog wrote:I guess this is part of the reason that I tend to discount Brandon's success when people base it on the fact he has taken us to three bowl games. The Bowl system has about as much credence as those "national" cheerleading contests.hammb wrote:Too damn many bowl games. Period.

insane in tha membrane
But because the entire system was so watered down, we were playing the 7th place Big Ten team and a team from another mid-major conference. Should it be such a commendable event that we won those two games?tiznow wrote:During the time BG went to their first two bowl game wins under Brandon, the MAC had only two tie ins.Warthog wrote:I guess this is part of the reason that I tend to discount Brandon's success when people base it on the fact he has taken us to three bowl games.
