Some of these idiots make me
This post says it all...
"Is it possible to turn down a bowl invitation? If those bowl projections pan out, I would hope Tressel or Geiger says, "Thanks, but no thanks. We are THE Ohio State Univeristy. We don't play in Motor City Bowls, or Sun, Alamo or Music City Bowls for that matter. Playing in those bowls means we had an unsuccesful season, and we would prefer to stay home."
Stay the F home then!!!

Opens up bowl slots for more deserving teams anyway.

Whoever posted that on Bucknuts doesn't know much about college football. With the season OSU has had, they better just go wherever they get invited, regardless of what bowl it is. They desperately need the extra practices. If we can beat UT, I think we will end up in a bowl. We will finish in the top 25 and will have proved that we are the second best team in the MAC (maybe the best the way we are playing right now). The only things that would kill us would be losing to Toledo, or having NIU get to the MAC Title Game, then get upset by Miami or Akron. All we can do is win and let the rest take care of itself. We didn't really help our cause with only 18,000 and change Saturday, but if we end up in the MCB, you know we'll get 20,000+ people to show up for that one.

Mike: Good point....people wonder why we "hate" OSU... It's the same old "better than thou" attitude they heap on others all the time... How people like Dana, Ed, and two of my kids graduated from that place...and stayed relatively sane... always amazes me.... My daughter is an OSU fantic, and I can live with that, because I believe you SHOULD back your own school....but my son, who was a Capt. and MVP on OSU's lacrosse team, is very "who cares" when it comes to OSU FB, until the Mich. game, again, a position I understand.... Don't know if you recall the situation last yr. in Columbus, but when my daughter met Dana, she seemed "stunned' that Dana was wearing Orange instead of scarlet and gray.... tried to tell her that some OSU alums have seen the light, but she wasn't convinced.... will have to continue to work to "reprogram" her...may be hopeless though.

Yep. Its official. I may as well sell my soul now. I am going to break every principal that i have ever lived by and for one day hope that Michigan wins! Oh, I feel terrible, but these Ohio State fans need to be put in their place. They have been on top for far too long.
Here's to hoping that they are the next Penn State of the Big Ten!

this is probably somewhat off-topic, but I'm starting to wonder that with the way the number of bowl-eligible teams is hovering right around 60, with 56 bowl spots open, if we even need to beat UT to get an invite somewhere. Obviously, I hope we make the Marshall game look like a nailbiter on the 23rd, but if we go into that game ranked and lose a close, high scoring game, we could probably still be in a good spot to go bowling. The only thing then would be getting lumped into a pool with NIU as "non-division winners" and them having the Sept 24 win on us.
Oh to hell with it. BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF TOLEDO!!!

No, Freak, THIS post says it all: "I would be
scarred to play Miami, seriously !!"
I hope they do get an invite to the MCB and lose to a MAC team. Oh, the belly-aching after such perceived humiliation. Say it with me, "Schadenfraude" (the word, not the legend.)

I don't understand why we have to lump ALL OSU fans into the same category. I have several friends that graduated from OSU and they all support BG except when we play head to head. There are they same fans that are jerks on the OSU board that there are on other ones. But lets not forget some of the support we have gotten from people from Oklahoma and such. As far as turning down a bowl, I understand their point. Bowl games should be rewards for successful seasons. In comparison to the history of OSU football this has not been a successful season. If they feel like turning down a bowl then fine. There are more deserving teams out there and everyone knows it, even OSU fans.

Fine point, 99. Coaches say this is the biggest benefit of going to a bowl game.

Good parenting and of course, being around someone that bleeds orange and brown. Most OSU fans that Ed and I are friends with are pretty normal and always have good things to say about BGSU.
