My Last Word on Marshall

There has been a lot of talk about Marshall and their fans the last week or so. I was at the game Saturday and most of the Marshall fans I encountered either didn't say a thing or after the game congratulated us on the win and said good luck next week. We even stopped and talked to four guys, all Marshall fans (all around 50 or so) who asked us where they could go and look at some half-naked girls. However, there was a group tailgating before the game who started yelling at us as we walked by and telling us how they were going to beat the crap out of us, whatever. Normal stuff, nothing that got me too fired up and we yelled back and had some fun. The funniest thing about it was the girl who said "How many MAC titles do you have?" I stopped in my tracks, starting laughing, and all I could think to say was, "a hell of a lot more than you." It is funny to me that Marshall fans think the MAC started in 1997 or whatever year they were allowed back in. Talk about Ohio State fans with the holier than thou attitude, that is why I, and most MAC fans, can't stand Marshall. Since day one, they have thought they were better than everyone else. I realize Marshall has helped put the MAC on the map, but the MAC has helped put Marshall on the map as well.
It was a great win Saturday. I was happy to see BG officially end Marshall's chances of winning another title. Omar Jacobs is an incredible football player. I am looking forward to watching him play the next two seasons. It is now on to TU. If the offense is clicking like it has the last 7 games, TU will have to put up 70 to win. The defense needs an effort like last year against TU and this will be a victory. This is not the Tole_o of past years, their offense doesn't scare me and their defense is pathetic.
I believe a victory over TU will get BG an invite to the GMAC Bowl before the MACC game, even if NIU beats Eastern. I think the GMAC will want a team coming off eight consecutive victories and a top-25 ranking. If that happens, the MACC game winner goes to Detroit and hopefully a third team goes somewhere else.
