Not sure if they've been posted here. A friend has subscribed to the Insiders:

Riverview (Pa.) offensive lineman Shane Steffy (6-3, 285, 5.3) has made a verbal commitment to attend Bowling Green. The 1st team Eastern Conference selection chose Bowling Green over interest from Kent State, Akron, Wisconsin, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Marshall, and Miami of Ohio. According to his father two others were close to offering.

“Kent State and Akron were to offer any day,” said Mr. Steffy.

Shane’s brother Charles was a walk-on defensive tackle at the University of Pittsburgh from 1999-2002.

Wayne Campbell Profile

Wayne Campbell of Charlotte High School put on a show at a recent passing camp I attended. Short of Ryan Perrilloux, he is the best quarterback I have seen in a controlled setting. While camps don't tell the whole story, one can get a pretty good idea if a player has the tools to make it on the next level.

Wayne Campbell does.

At 6-5 and 215 pounds, Campbell has the frame that coaches love to see. He is a big prospect with a fast release. One of the throws that scouts love to see a quarterback make is the deep out, and that was Charlotte's primary weapon in the passing league, because Campbell throws it so well.

Campbell threw for over 1,800 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior, and he is poised for an even bigger year as a senior. He projects as a full qualifier.

With all positives about Campbell, how come he isn't being recruited harder by bigger schools yet?

Campbell didn't many looks in the spring to get offered early, and now he has slipped into the "let's evaluate him more before we offer him" category. Scholarship offers breed more scholarship offers. If a school is the third or fourth team to offer a player a scholarship, there is little risk of him accepting it, and they have time to further evaluate the prospect before they are actually sure whether they are ready to take a commitment from him. The offer is more of a way to get in the door.

Once a player gets through May without an offer, there is a risk in becoming the first team to offer him, unless they are positively ready to take his commitment.

Campbell falls into that category. Since no one has offered him yet, there is no rush to be the first. Isn't recruiting fun?

Having seen almost all of the quarterbacks in the south this year, I have no doubt in my mind that Campbell is a top notch prospect on the college level. As the pool of quarterbacks starts to shrink, Campbell will see his stock keep going up.

Who are some of the schools that he is looking at early?

"Right now I'm pretty much wide open, but if I had to name a Top 7, I guess they would be Michigan, Auburn, Louisville, Bowling Green, Marshall, ECU, and North Carolina."

Campbell's summer camp schedule includes USF, Bowling Green, Michigan, and Auburn.

Campbell is going to draw a lot of attention this fall, and once the ice breaks and the first offer comes, look for a flood of them to follow.

"A gun rack!?!? What am I gonna do with a gun rack? I don't own A gun, let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack! What am I gonna do with a gun rack?"
