MAC unveils new logos & marks

Post by BGSU33 »

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and it shows three new looks. I like the new colors better, but I also liked the old logo better.

Field Markings

Post by Class of 61 »

So will this mean that any of the FIELDTURF Conference logos will have to be torn up and/or redone? Honestly, can't recall how many, if any, of the new fields have a conference logo on them.

I am fairly certain those are painted on. I've always wondered how some field turf fields, which host multiple events, can be changed out. I'm not sure.

You can change the paint without having to tear up the field. Notice that Ford Field doesn't have the Lions logo at midfield during the MAC title game and has the team names in the endzones. This won't be a big deal to change the logos on the fields.

I appreciate the fact that the founding year is included in the logo.

I appreciate little else.

Not sure if I like the shield, but the font works well and looks unique.

The old logo did look a bit dated.

Here's my beef ... why didn't the conference utilize students enrolled in graphic design programs around the MAC to design the new logo? Now maybe they considered this as a possibility, I don't know. Bowling Green, Miami, and Ball State all have very good reputations in graphic design, and I would certainly think that most if not all of the others have a graphic design program and hopefully a good reputation behind it, and I just really think a new logo would feel more genuine and more sincere if it came from a panel of current students learning how to do a product just like this.

Just my $.02.

I agree with much of this, or at least wonder why they used a company out of Philly to design it. Blech.

Very nice choices. If the conference had incorporated any one of these things into the new logo, it would have been a great improvement.
